That language that you quoted from the Inland Guide was changed late September, 2014. Since this is the ONLY place (in any of the CIC documentation) that shows that a person `who wishes to apply' (meaning those that as of that date in September have NOT yet applied) must now have legal status...nobody [here] seems to understand what that really means. Is CIC changing the rules? Do they know that the old `rule' was put into place back in February 2005 and that they can't simply change it on a whim?

I think you're going to be fine. The only possible issue would be with your OWP and whether or not you can continue working before it arrives, since the expired work permit + implied status + continuing to work issues are still very much in question.

Going by what you said the language was changed in September 2014 meaning the rule applies to anyone who applied/applies after that time.

You know how CIC is - they can easily quote that they have it documented and that's what the rule is. I am kind of confused about what you are saying

Also I called the CIC today. Thankfully I got one of the better knowledgeable sounding reps or at least that's what it seemed like. She said that you don't have to be legal when you get married and apply for fam. class.

But this guide says you have to be.

You put it perfectly by ", expired work permit + implied status + continuing to work issues are still very much in question."

I don't think I will continue to work. I can stop after my impled status expired till I get OWP. Only issue is getting the OWP is current situation.

I think you've made a wise decision. IMHO, it's just not worth it to continue to work, while waiting for the OWP unless you know with absolute certainty that it is NOT a violation to do so.

Good luck!

You didn't address the above part..Do you have to have a legal status or not because according to the guide you do. According to CIC rep. and you you don't. Which one is it?

Currently I am on implied status and working. When the times comes to stop working I will stop obviously.

Keep in mind there's two things happening. I had my PGWP which expired before which I applied for extension. And my CEC app. got returned and that's why that WP extension application will probably be refused.

And then family class sponsorship is a whole another issue.

Ponga I appreciate your responses. Can I also please get responses from others as different opinions can help come to consensus.
