Seniors please help.

I got Passport back with COPR in it i am planning to land there in Jan 2016 after marriage in December. Please Please Please reply to all my questions below.

1)What shall i do in that case?
2)If i inform them about my maritial status in December, how much time will it take for getting her visa as well?
3)I have thought a way out of this situation: I get married with tradition here in Dec, I land there in Jan 2016 as single, after getting my PR card i come to India and get married by law (registered marriage) and then i inform them about my marital status after which i will put her file for PR. What are the possible issues in this case?
4)If i follow 3rd point do i have to show my minimum income (1yr or so) proof and all to them?
5)What if I go to Canada for landing purpose then come here within a week for marriage and then return to Canada in Feb again?

I know this may be very long post for you guys but please respond to me ASAP. Thank you

1) Inform the visa office that issued your COPR. They will cancel the COPR and visa. They will tell you how to add your new spouse to your application.
2) Impossible to say. Months at least.
3) Don't even think about it... Misrepresentation, banned from Canada, loss of PR status and never able to sponsor your spouse. Marriage is marriage...
4) Not applicable, as your sponsorship would be refused under IRPR 117(9)(d)
5) If you are not married, by any method, you can land, return to marry, and return to Canada to sponsor your new spouse.

Thanks Zardoz for opening my eyes.

Sure. Follow the procedure from http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/travel-document/index.asp

You can get a PR travel document as mentioned above, or you could have your relatives courier the PR card to you in India.

You must have a PR travel doc or PR card to board a plane to Canada.

Done then i will stick to plan number 5. Thank you vip members for helping me out in this situation and preventing me from committing a blunder. +1 to both of you

Dear All,

Even I am in the exactly same situation

Yeah even to me point 5 is feasible

"5) If you are not married, by any method, you can land, return to marry, and return to Canada to sponsor your new spouse."

Now I want to know, once Me sponsor spouse how much it will take for spouse to come to Canada ?

Or if I can add spouse after marriage before landing I mean , does it make things complicated ?

and also how much time it will take if one can add spouse before landing ?

I just want to reiterate the point as others have mentioned DONT get married in any method and land as single because its misrepresentation and the spouse can never be sponsored.

Its currently taking 60+ days for the first stage and 8-9 months avg for files to be processed in Delhi but keep in mind it could take the full 17 months.

I would say that why don't u let your visa office know you got married before landing. Add your spouse to your application! It will delay your landing (so big deal, the economy is not doing good right now anyway)

I think it will be faster than getting married after landing and then sponsoring your spouse. That could take anywhere from 10-17 months!

Rambog there is a problem in informing to them about marriage before landing. They will ask for wife's documents for checking purpose. The first thing that would come in their mind is that "this xyz person has got married just after getting his Visa there could be a possiblity that the marriage is a fraud" in that case they will simply delay the application processing to check strentgth of, relationship correctness of relationship. So in any case it may not be early then sponsoring spouse after finishing landing process. Both, husband and wife will have to wait for atleast 1 yr more for pr. Otherwise, atleast husband will get pr and he can start career in canada.

Thats my view. Please comment on this, i may be wrong.

In my opinion it is generally better if you are planning on getting married soon that you do it before landing and add your spouse. There will be some months delay for your spouses background checks and medicals and if your spouse has a problem, you could both be denied. However, the other alternative would be to land first, then come back, get married, then return to Canada in order to sponsor and stay in Canada alone for possibly a year or more while you wait for your spouse to get PR and be able to join you.

It is not an option to get married before landing and not add your spouse to your application. This would be misrepresentation. It's not an option either to land, then marry, then go back to initiate sponsorship and then go back to rejoin your spouse in your home country. The rules say that in order to sponsor, you must be residing in Canada. If immigration finds out that you are not in Canada, they will cancel your sponsorship application.

I am sailing in the same boat...

But in any case if they feel that the relationship is not genuine they are going to reject your application (landing before marriage or sponsor latter).

If you are going to do traditional marriage and you have proofs to prove your relationship. it is not going to be a problem (applies in both the cases as above).

Sponsoring your wife takes longer time than adding your wife in present application. Once you intimate about change in marital status to NDVO and/or CIC and send all the required form, You can alone go to canada (spouse not accompaning) after getting new visa, sponser your wife latter. This may be a faster option.

From the opinions of the seniors of this forum i have received answers suggesting to take decision according to your feasibility(factors like proof of Funds, ability of survival for both initially, ability to bear pain of loneliness and many more... )

Also, sponsoring your wife don't require income limits and the visa you have received is single entry visa. so, you will require travel document for re-entry in canada.

PR card currioring is crime as per the law.

I hope this will help. Also seek others' second opinion.

can i come back in 15 days of landing? :(
is it possible for me to return as soon as possible to India?
is there any law which prohibits me doing that?
while returning to canada again i will issue one time travel document.
