Varies depending on complexities involved in spouse's medicals/PCC(s)/travel history etc. Typically between 4 to 8 weeks of delay.deadbird said:Do you folks have a consensus as to how long it takes for processing after spouse is added? There is no formula which fits all.deadbird said:Do you folks have a consensus as to how long it takes for processing after spouse is added? Also any pointers to any forum members who went through the whole process?
deadbird said:@Nitz_Au: Is there any feedback for your spouse's application on the MyCIC dashboard? Such as "Medicals Passed" or "Background check in progress" or anything like that? Or are you only able to get feedback using GCMS notes.

That's odd. Did you give specific date to CIC eg. Jan15,2017 etc..? I suggest apply for the marriage certificate, get the receipt, attach the receipt to LOE and send CSE notifying them when you can get the certificate. My certificate arrived 5 days after applying at the registry.deadbird said:So, I got married today and emailed Ottawa VO. They replied immediately with a list of documents but they only gave me 7 days. This is despite the fact that I specifically requested additional time to submit my marriage certificate. Another email to them asking for more time has had no response so far.
At this stage, I am preparing myself for the possibility that they will not grant me additional time to submit the marriage certificate. This has me worried since their document request has the following language:
If we do not receive the information/documents within 7 days, your application will be assessed based on
the information we have on file, meaning your application could be refused as incomplete.
Here is what I plan to submit in lieu of a marriage certificate.
* Marriage License signed by the officiant (This is not an official document)
* Receipt from the wedding hall for monies paid.
* Letter of explanation for the missing document.
* Other supplementary proof such as wedding photos, relationship photos, utility bills showing the same address.
What do you think is the likelihood of my application getting rejected?
Also, when I do get the marriage certificate (in a couple of weeks), what is the appropriate procedure for sending them the document? via CSE or by emailing CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca?
Yeah, I gave them a specific date of Jan 22 2017. But still the same resultNitz_Au said:That's odd. Did you give specific date to CIC eg. Jan15,2017 etc..? Here's my request letter.
Please note that the requested information/documents must be received within 30 days from the date of this correspondence. Please upload these documents to your MyCIC account. Please note that we can only accept unzipped PDF, JPG or .doc files that are attached to an email, totaling less than 5 MB. I have two working hypotheses as to why they may have only given 7 days:
H1:CopyPaste The officer blindly copy pasted some template. This is probably the reason that they replied lightning fast.
H2:Unfriendly The officer is not sympathetic to my case and chose not to grant the additional despite reading my request.
My guess is that CopyPaste is a more likely scenario; but that might change if they don't grant me additional time soon based on my followup email.
Hi Ufa6174,Ufa6174 said:I think you are fine. Even if the marriage certificate is what is more "official" in your country, provided you supplied everything else including the marriage license and a LOE providing the max date that you'll supply the certificate, I don't think you're in a concerning position.
FYI my request letter also had the days bit highlighted in yellow which clearly indicates it's a template and perhaps in your case the officer overlooked your request for extension. In my case when I'd notified them I mentioned that I have all the documents on the ready so I thought this has contributed to the 7 days limit.
Upload the certificate later via CSE. I trust you understand that all documents written in foreign languages must be translated to English or French.
Hi. Just received an update of passing medicals a few days ago, that's it.Nitz_Au said:Hi Ufa6174,
Any updates on your part?
Ok, thanks. folks. I'll see how it plays out. It's the holiday season so response latency is very high regarding almost anything from the marriage bureau.Ufa6174 said:I think you are fine.
