Getting married after PPR

Guys just got this mail from Vienna office. Already have the visa stamped in paasport.

Dear Mr. xxxxxx,


Please return the passport and the COPR to our office. The following documents are required for your spouse:


· Payment of the processing fee for your spouse

· Completion of the IMM008, Schedule A and Additional Family Information by your spouse:http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/prov-apply-application.asp

· Updated Additional Family Information sheet and the IMM008 by yourself

· Police clearance certificate(s) for your spouse

· Marriage certificate

· Spouse’s passport copy

· 2 photos according to the instructions

Now I am bit confused. I don't have any update in MyCIC account. Only the email from the local office. How should I submit the required documents.

Anybody been in similar situation or can advise on further steps??

I was in the similar situation. Even i got a mail from Delhi immigration at first. And some days later may be 2 or 3, i got another mail from cic that i got a message in ny cic account. The message was about how to add your spouse in the application.

AOR: 14th April 2017
PPR: 14th July 2017
FSW - India

Passport expiry date: 11th August 2018

Last date of passport submission as per CIC Mail (Passport Request for Visa): 12th August 2017

Current Marital Status: Single
Expected Marriage month: October / November 2017 (Proper Marriage with rituals and customs)


Please help by answering below questions. Thanks in Advance.

1. At this stage (Passport Request for Visa), what are the ways by which I can add a spouse to my application?
2. What are the timelines for each way?
3. Is it better to add spouse before going to Canada or after going there?
4. Any complications that may arise if I add spouse before going to Canada?
5. Will there be a problem if I get married and add spouse after getting the Visa stamped on passport but before landing in Canada?
6. Is a court marriage required/advisable to shorten the process?
7. What are the documents requirement to add spouse to your application ? both mandatory and optional ones ?
8. Can I get my passport renewed 1 year before the expiry date ? How much time does it takes?
9. Can I land in Canada in March 2018 (after visa is stamped, let's say in January 2018) with passport validity of 5 months before expiry ?
10. Is it advisable to get the Medical and PCC of spouse done before marriage ?

Hey guys, a quick question.

If a person gets the golden email to send passport for stamping (PR) and that person informs CIC in return that he/she is getting married in a week or so and they request to send a list of things for further processing of spouse. How much maximum time CIC takes in this case when you add your spouse?

I mean what is the maximum time duration CIC takes for processing from the day of submission of all the required documents along with paying the fees of spouse.

I was not part of express entry. But it took 2 months for me after submitting documents.So, I am assuming that same timeline would follow here. But make sure you have enough fund to cover your spouse.

At what point did you return the passport and the CORP? Is it after you got the update for additional documents in your CIC account OR right away?
I am bit confused about it cause the email says to return the PP to visa office, but there's no any deadlines or more detailed instructions on how to send all the docs..
Should I send some docs now to the office email and return the passport or wait for update in MyCIC account??

Yes, I was confused as hell, as well. In my case the letter i received in mycic account also did not have the info about how to return. since u are asked to return the passport, u need to return it along with the docs through the same means you had sent ur passport earlier. In my case, it was through vfs.

Did you send hard copy docs (birth certificate, marriage certificate etc.) along with the passport or just uploaded the docs through MyCIC account? I still don't have update to upload additional documents in my account...

I think you should right away return your passport along with the docs asked through the same means you had sent your passport earlier.
Even i sent the hardcopy of additional docs to my vo office, delhi immigration

No - not really true. It really depends where you're from. Still quite possible for it to take over a year.

Hmm. It must be case to case. But CIC itself is claiming within 12 months for 80% of the cases.

So if you add your spouse after receiving the Golden Email, then would they be doing the processing of the spouse only or they might do the processing again for you (The Primary Applicant) as well? Or you will be free from all that processing stuff and will have to wait for your spouse's processing to be completed?

Moreover, an Applicant from India added his wife this year and it took 70 days for him to receive the golden email again. Seems like you got it quite quick cause processing of Indian applicants are very fast.

They will ask you to send an updated application forms for your spouse and yourself. Along with updated family history for both of you. Please also include travel history, medical,application fee and rprf fee for your spouse along with application. Include as much photograph of your engagement and wedding. Wedding Invitation card. Picture with family and friends to make it relevant. Documentation should be very good. I have send them almost 5kg of hard copies evidence to make my case strong.

What if the marriage ceremony event was quite simple and of single day without any engagement ceremony etc. Pictures are there.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you can prove that you've been in cohabitation and relationship before the marriage.

I am single applicant, have recently got PPR and have sent the passport for stamping. My medical date is Apr 14, 2017 and hence I have to land in Canada before Apr 13, 2018. I am planning to move to Canada next year and hence planning to do soft landing before April 2018. I am also planning to get married during this period. My questions are as follows:
1. Should I do soft landing before getting married? Will there be any issue if I add my spouse post my soft landing?
2. Should I get married before April 2018, add spouse to my PR and then do soft landing.

Which of the above is advisable?

3. How long does it takes to add spouse if you have already landed in Canada and have PR Card?
