Okay let me get this straight. You can get married and add your spouse to the application at any time after you submit your application - even after your PP is stamped. You can add a dependent up until the point you land in Canada and officially become a PR. No issues.

So, if you are planning to get married in the near future and if it is possible for you to get married before landing, do that. You'll save headache, paperwork and an agonizing wait time of having to sponsor them after you become a PR.

Guys can someone please write the exact documents CIC requires when adding spouse after PPR??

I am at Vienna office, but I am not sure if requirements are the same for all offices.

Generally, you have to submit the following -

Passport(s) of spouse
PCC(s) of spouse
Upfront Medical Exam report of spouse
IMM5465E (Additional Family Information)
Fee for spouse (RPRF + Processing Fee)
Marriage certificate
Additional Proof of funds

Items 6,11,12 are completely unnecessary.

4 is required only if spouse has travel history.
2 might be required only for spouse AFAIK.

Also, for #7, photos should be of dimensions specified in the following link -->

11,12 are optional but points 2,4,6 are mandatory to submit
I have already clarified 2,4.

6 is required only if you are applying for spousal sponsorship (the process of sponsoring a dependent AFTER becoming a PR) OR if IRCC specifically asks for photos when adding a dependent to an application. Otherwise, it is NOT required.

After marriage, Is it necessary to get updated passport of spouse mentioning husbands name and marital status or the current passport will work?

AFAIK, IRCC wouldn't insist on getting your PP updated. I am not sure about the Indian authorities.
Hey I'm from pakistan and I don't think the authorities would say anything. Thanks though :)

Don't require 6 with explanation. When I marry, we going straight to the Justice of the Peace, no big colorful wedding. Nah if he wants a picture of the pastor, my wife and I, go right ahead. lol Hence the reason it depends per VO requests

March 20th: PPR Request
March 25th: Married
March 26th: Informed IRCC of change in Martial Status
March 28th: Received request from IRCC to upload documents for spouse
April 10th: Uploaded all the documents for spouse
April 14th: BG changed to "We are processing your background check ... "
May 16th: RCMP request for PA(me)
May 30th: RCMP request for Spouse
June 19th: PPR Request.

A delay of a little over 2 months since I uploaded docs for spouse.

I'm married on 16-Jun and received PPR email on 29-Jun. I have raised a CSE and sent an email to CPC-CTD-Ottawa@cic.gc.ca. I guess I would need to wait a few weeks before hearing from CIC.

I'd like to ask, is it okay that my husband do upfront medical check now. If so, what documents should he bring to the clinic, is it my PPR email? I'm not sure if the clinic can upload his result to CIC while CIC haven't processed my CSE update.

Appreciate your advice, thanks a lot.

Hey guys

What is the correct way to inform CIC about marital status change?
Are we emailing Ottawa centre or send CSE to visa office??

Cheers
