Getting another 6 months extension

Hello,

Just wondering, is it possible for a Japanese national who is visiting Canada for 6 months to leave the country and get another 6 months visitor stay?

My spouse is visiting and her visitor status is about to expire in about 2 months. Would it be quicker this way (if its possible), or should she apply through the extend stay process?

Have you applied for Spousal PR ? If yes, then you can apply for extension online and ask for a year and usually it gets approved. Even without a PR app you can still apply to extend ur stay online.
What do you mean leave the country ? Don't flagpole to get visitor extension.

You don't need to leave, apply online for an extension.

They may give you longer then 6 months, especially if you pay for your PR app and submit it (include the receipt and the tracking infomation).

It was just turned to in process about 2 months ago.

And then do the online application right? What do I do for her banking? She is a foreign visitor who is uneligible to apply for a bank account afaik. Can I tell them Im supporting her and uploading a letter showing my banking info?

For the application, you supporting her and your banking info is fine.

More generally, if you'd like her to have a bank account, check a few different branches as you should be able to get a bank account (or get her added to your accounts) as a visitor (foreigner) but some branches seem not to know how to (or are unwilling to).

Do write a detailed cover letter stating you have a PR application in process and you are expecting it to be finalized within x months. Also provide lots of proof to establish ur financial worth. Pay stubs , employment letter, bank statements. Good luck .

If it was 2 years ago, that is way over the processing times for most Japanese nationals.

What went in process, the Sponsorship or the Application?

Also, are you sure that you applied Outland through Manila (or CIC didn't mess up and process it Inland)?


As for banking, she can easily get on your bank account if she is Common Law with you. Not sure about on her own, but some banks don't care all that much. Look around and you should be able to find something.

When we applied, the problem was that her application was sent when there was that big strike with the embassies and immigration and the application was put on the backburner like a bunch of other people that applied at the time.

Hopefully everything is going well now since her application is in process.

We always got mail from Manila and requests for documents from them. So I believe that is outland application

I was confused by that question last time too. I answered yes, and in the details box, I mentioned about the PR application in progress. I also mentioned in my explanation letter that I was unsure how I was meant to answer that question as it was not covered in the guidance notes.

Be good to know what the correct thing to do is, as I'm about to apply for another extension too!
