Generic application Form (imm0008e) won't let me write my name exactly as shown in passport

I'm trying to fill the personal details section of Generic application Form for Canada (imm0008e). This section says that I must complete the form by writing my name exactly as it is shown in my passport or travel document. However my name (in Spanish) contains a letter that is not in either English nor French Alphabet. In my case it is í. The Form doesn't let me write it. What should I do?

I'm using Adobe Acrobat Pro DC Version 2015.007.20033

Dear russ6970. Thank you very much for your reply. The answer to your question is, as I have explained in my question : "The Form doesn't let me write" í character on it. By that I mean that after you write í, and click validate, the form highlight this field as incorrect and prints the following error message that I show you on this image https://drive.google.com/open?id=1aFzDPpbbbmqUiNWwatBiS6ZysIj0Tp22 . I hope this clarifies your doubt.

What letter would that translate to in either English or French? Try that route. What you are trying to input is a special character and that is why you are getting errors. If the letter translates to an i, then use i. If it translates in a unique sound that might be more problematic, but still doable.

And the form asks for this information to be exactly as in my passport. In this site http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=007&top=4 it says : "If you want to give us more information, such as details of your case, provide it on a separate sheet of paper." Should I write my name as you suggest in the form itself but also add a separate sheet of paper clarifying this?

When they ask you to write your name exactly as it appears in your passport, it is sort of implied that it would need to contain only letters in English or French. The accent on the i is used only for emphasis, is it not?

You can, if you wish, add a separate sheet and make a note that the special character was not accepted and it's actually spelled with the accent.

Generally speaking, it shouldn't cause you any issues either way.

If your name was Víctor and you wrote Vmctor, that would be different. Writing Victor will not be considered different.

You can add a separate sheet with an explanation.
