Hi - we're just about to take the plunge and are in the process of gathering up all the required documentation for an outland application through the London, UK office. We do have some general questions, though and would appreciate any insight:
1) We've been married for more than 10 years and been resident in the UK for that time -- what level of proof of relationship is actually required? Do we actually need to send dozens of photos? We're terrible at taking photographs of ourselves as a couple as, usually, one or the other of us is holding the camera!
Are there other documents which would be acceptable alternatives? For example, we have jointly owned our home for several years -- would something like the title deeds showing this from the UK Land Registry be helpful as proof? What about a statement from our bank stating that we've had a joint account for the duration of our marriage?
2) We've a daughter who was born to a naturalised Canadian citizen (her mother, who is also the sponsor of this application). Based on our reading of the immigration rules, it sounds like she is a also a Canadian citizen and would, therefore, not need to be included as a dependent on the application - is this correct?
3) We've seen some information online stating that financial support and pre-existing medical conditions (which are not harmful to the public) are not weighted as heavily for spousal sponsorships. Does anyone have any insight into this?
4) Due to our circumstances, it is possible that the sponsoree (is that a real word?) / PR applicant will receive a job offer in Canada while the spousal visa and related PR application is being processed. Is there any issue with also applying for a work permit (through the normal process) while the visa / PR is being processed? Our understanding from what we've read is that it shouldn't cause an issue but it would be great if someone could confirm from personal experience.
Thanks very much in advance.
