Hello all. I am new on this forum. I just wanted to find this out: Does anybody know how long the process will take from when I actually start till when i find myself in Canada for real? Thanks

Your question is too general. It depends which program you apply through and which visa office.

Do some reseach next time:
go to the CIS processing time page to check the timeline in your area.

Depending on when you can get there for "Real"

Consider these three scenarios:

Best case: 1 week (5%) :D
Worst case: never(5%) :o
In between : 1 week to more than the number of sand particles in a sandbox.(90%) :'(

Do the math.......

No one is approved for PR in one week. Minimum right now is probably around 2 or 2.5 months.

and if you need to Appeal, count on another 3 years or more

Where does it say the questionnaire is asking about PR. To get to canada all you need is tourist visa. to stay they or work you need work permit... My theory still holds good for temp visa.

Personally, I have gotten Visas for NEw Zealand, US, Uzbekistan, Singapore, Malaysia within 3 or 4 days.... Canadian visas for some reason take longer.. Guess people travelling to canada are more than people going to US :P

Dear Friend
First you clear what type of visa you are looking for- If you want to apply for Permanent Residence (PR) it will
take 6 months to 24 months or sometime even longer, but from july 11 they certainly reduced timeline in many cases. One of my friend finished (up to landing) in 7 months while in my case it took 23 months and 10 days to get visa in my hand, not yet landed.
ask any further query without any hesitation. And try to search www.cic.gc.ca official website for Canada immigration.

Thank you.
