My explanation for gap is-

2-We had baby on the way .

can i provide my bank statements and employer letter to show,i was in the country during that gap tenure..

Foremost, you simply acknowledge and explain why in the application itself, as is described in the instructions. This is mostly about verifying there were no other passports, no other travel documents which could have been used.

Whether or not this is an issue which will trigger requests for additional evidence or information is difficult to guess. It might. But a lot depends on the totality of circumstances, on how the whole case looks.

Depends, as well, on whether there are any indications there could have been international travel during that period of time. Obviously this too is about verifying there are no other passports or travel documents . . . if there was travel during that gap time, that would suggest you did have some other travel documents to use.

All applicants should be prepared to submit proof of their interest in the place they lived (rental lease and receipts, ownership records, or such) and proof of work history (or alternative, regular activity), plus other records which would show a paper trail of a life being lived in Canada . . . but the vast majority of applicants never need to actually present this additional evidence, so this is about being prepared if necessary, and hoping it is not necessary.

In any event, if IRCC perceives that it is entirely credible that you simply let a passport expire some time prior to obtaining a new one, and IRCC does not perceive any reason to suspect travel during the gap, the odds are good that you will not need to present or submit any further proof. (Again, be prepared in case you do need to provide more records.)
