Hi there - i have 2 questions.

- my girlfriend who I met in Colombia is in Los Angeles until December 20 on a visitor visa. We want to bring her up to Canada to visit before she goes back to Colombia. My questions..

1. Does it look bad if I apply for her online - her English is so-so, so I thought I would just do it online and send it in.
2. Funs available. I am going to be providing for her, I make good money so that isn't a problem. However in the first document it asks Funds Available for my stay - she won't be able to show anything really as she will be living with me. But it is asking for a number... Any help here on what i should put?

Thanks!

1. You can be her representative and there is a form for her to sign.
2. She really needs to show her own funds to support a visit. So she includes her banks statements. It will raise red flags is she cannot. You can show your bank statements but IRCC doesn’t need to consider your funds. How long is her visit? Her visit should match her funds.

Thanks Naturgrl - her visit would be for 6 months (I believe that is what a visitor visa is allowed).

I paid an immigration lawyer $300 for a consultation and they said that because she would be living with me I have to show my financial situation and that she wouldn't need to as I would be providing for her.

I may have to go back to that lawyer... ugh.

6 months is way too long. She doesn’t decide how long she can stay. If she wants to stay for 6 months then she needs to show a considerable amount of funds. You are not a family member so IRCC may not even consider your funds.

Thanks again - i thoughtt he visitor visa was up to 6 months. It says you can stay for 6 months on the website. So on the application how long should I put?

Again, this is all based on my income. I'm confused now because the immigration lawyer said we could have her come as long as I am providing for her. I may have to go drop some more money on the lawyers... ugh.

No. CBSA decides on entry how long a person can stay. If not stamped, a person can stay up to 6 months. The length of visit should correlate with amount of her funds. Don’t know why you need to pay a lawyer for a TRV. Apply with her funds and your funds and see what happens.
