Fuming! Payment of Fees

Just tried paying our $1040 online. Only to be told payment rejected.

No problem I thought so called my card company get the card rejection lifted.

Tried again and same thing!

Only to be told by my card company that both transactions have been authorised.
Logged back on to CIC and nothing is showing in the receipt section for previous payments.

What a nightmare. So doesn't look like the application will be getting sent tomorrow

I had the same problem, when I called the call centre I was told it was a "known problem". This was back in May.

In the end I paid in a bank.

Did they refund the payments for you?

REally dont want to have to wait the two weeks for the form to come through and pay in the bank. Oh well

i was in UK but paid though our canadian bank acct and had no problems, is that an option for you?

We got problems with paying online too!
We found out it's because of an error in the address we put in the info boxes.
I think it's like for "avenue" we put "ave".

Very minor discrepancy like this will cost you so much!
We tried twice and got it right the third time.

We also informed CIC about this and they refunded the payment in a week's time.

We didn't have this problem but I got my landing interview letter stating that I have to pay Right of Perm. Resi. fee, $490 x 2! WTF is this? I can understand your anger and frustration because it seems like CIC likes to take and take and when its their mistake, they take all the time in the world fixing it.

Thank god I saw this post.
This happened to me 2 days ago when I tried to pay my application fee online. I got rejected twice.
Today I called the credit card company and they said that the payment was approved the first time so I called the call centre and they told me that this could happen if you don't enter your credit card information EXACTLY as it appears on your card (this includes your home address). This guy told me that the system would put the money back in my card automatically in about a week or so.
So all I can do for now is to wait.... ???

Well we managed to get hold of CIC and they said they issued was caused with a discrepancy in the address.

I can see how this would be as I paid with a UK card. There is no option to enter a UK county.
My wife/sponsor paid on her Canadian card and that went through fine.

Just means I have to transfer the money from UK to Canada as I was currently in a better position to pay but never mind.

So now I just need to get my two payments refunded which they said would be up to two weeks!

WOHOOOOO. Credit card has been refunded nice and promptly and the application has now been sent ;D

Now may the waiting commence.

The same thing just happened to me. Twice.

And since my current permit is going to expire next week I don't have time to order a cheque from the CIC website.

I noticed some of you mentioning it could be related to the billing address; what could be the cause of that? Should I try paying again? But that would be a total of $450 waiting to get refunded. :'(

If online payment doesn't work, you can always that that fee form to bank and pay there....Good old ways..

same thing just happened to me! i called the number it had on the page and was on hold for 2 seconds before it said there was nobody available and to try later!
why can't they get this sorted? it is ridiculous!
I leave to go back to England on holiday in about 12 hours and I wanted to send it off before I left. we cant do it again as we dont have to money to have 2 grand out of the account for upto 2 weeks so now no idea what to do. they really should get this problem fixed as it is ridiculous

When we called they said it is their single biggest issue.

It's absurd that they are not get it sorted. From what I can make out with my credit card company it is because of their own verification process and not that of the actual credit card company.

If you can use a Canadian card and ensure the bill is exactly as on the address.
If you are in Canada go to your local CIC office if that's an option to pick up the form and pay at the bank.
