Most of the best candidates are among the outland fellas. Canada should remove all inland pathways (no more buy-a-PR lazies) and cut the quota by 75% and only admit 100k outland professionals per year with the highest CRS. IRCC's corresponding funds should be reallocated to a domestic research on how a stronger sense of family, community and growth can be promoted in Canada. The govt can also reallocate additional funds from useless expenses like environmental issues (none exist in Canada) and go hard on industry energy construction and oil, all of which can go into supporting young Canadian parents and creating incentives for them to have more kids.
What a wishful thinking !

I just applied for a job at University of Winnipeg, and I hate winters; Florida guy here!
Now am scared. Lol
It's a whole lifestyle. You're going to have to like it/tolerate it enough or you'll be miserable. I personally love it except for the week or two the temperature maintains a consistent -30˚C.

Hoping to see the same in Canada soon. Not before I get my PR card though. I'd be ok with the govt waiting for 2-3 months after I got my PR card then shutting down all immigration. I'll send IRCC a webform to request this. This would help speed up navin's citizenship application too.

I have dkab to wrap my Subway sandwich and Uber it to my door so I'm all set. Don't need anybody else.
I’ll probably be the Uber driver lol

Australia woke up at the right time. Canada will do the same. Mass immigration only destroys a country and does not benefit it.
Australia has same immigration levels as it had before. It’s just that there are now more streamlined pathways for temporary residents and points based offshore immigration is relic of the past.

I see the same thing happening here, FSW is truly dead and gone. They say they want to focus on inlanders. And if the Liberals lose an election, which I think they will in the next 2 years, those numbers could be even lower.

Mr. Tako Van Popta (Langley—Aldergrove, CPC):
Madam Speaker, Canada's economy needs to improve productivity, and for that we need to grow our workforce, with more highly skilled immigrants and more people with the skills, training and knowledge that employers require. However, here is the problem. People cannot afford to live in some of our economic-generating cities because of out-of-control housing inflation.
When will the government take concrete steps to curb inflation, increase the housing supply and get Canada back into a leadership position in the G7?

Hon. Sean Fraser (Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, Lib.):

Madam Speaker, I thank the hon. member for his enthusiasm for immigration as a strategy to grow the economy. I look forward to tabling my plan with immigration levels for the next few years in Canada sometime next week.
He is right. We need to manage immigration in an appropriate way so the workers who come here to fill gaps in the labour force to maximize our economic potential have a place to live. With record labour shortages, despite the fact we have more jobs in Canada now than before the pandemic, immigration is going to be an important part of Canada's growth strategy. I look forward to working with our Minister of Housing to ensure the national housing strategy makes housing more affordable for Canadians, including those who come to Canada.

Ironically enough, the job with one of the biggest shortages is Truck Drivers

One of the reasons I like it being here is cold climate. Warm or hot climate is hard to manage. Cold climate is easy to manage with right clothes.

Yeah it’s the main reason I wasn’t too keen on Canada. I’m the guy who used to wear a jacket when temperatures drop below 20C in Australia (there’s lot of people who do that).

I typically do not need a sweater in 10 degree... below that, I need my sweater and jacket. Its the cold windy weather that causes lots of chills for me.

Once you go out in -20 C temperature/windchill, 10 C is warm cargo weather lol. You adapt to it and get used to it. I don't whip out any serious winter wear apart from a hoodie or a basic sweater above 0 C since it makes me uncomfortable. Came a long way from thinking I had to wear a sweater in Chennai winter..
