Study: Immigration to drive Canada’s population increase into 2068

https://www.cicnews.com/2022/08/study-immigration-to-drive-canadas-population-increase-into-2068-0830198.html#gs.a1r2ts

Statistics Canada has released its projections for Canada’s population growth spanning the next 47 years. The report states that by 2068, in a medium growth scenario, Canada’s population could reach up to 57 million people, largely driven by increased immigration.

The population is aging

The most report states the average age of Canadians was 41 years old. By 2068, it is expected that the median age in Canada will increase to 45 years old and the number if Canadian’s over 85 will triple from the current 871,000 to 3.2 million. Canadians over 65, and therefore retired, will account for 26% of Canada’s population. Bearing this in mind, Statistics Canada estimates that even with increased immigration, an aging population is unavoidable over the coming 50 years.

When combined with an increasing mortality rate, Statistics Canada projects that even in a medium-growth scenario the birth rate may become negative between 2049 and 2058. Put another way, this means that for nearly a decade, Canada can expect more deaths than births.

Even with high immigration targets, one of the biggest difficulties over the coming years will be increasing the number of youth in the population. The rate of natural population growth (births minus deaths) in Canada is expected to further decline as there is historically low birth rate among Canadian couples, with the number of children per woman at only 1.4. in 2020.

--

LOL.

Talk about a failed immigration plan.

First of all, you are "importing" huge number of young immigrants every year and still it is expected that your average population age to grow older. On top of that, despite all this immigration, you will still have a negative birth rate for whole decade 2049-2058.

They can't seem to grasp the fact that the more developed you become, the less birth rates you will have, no matter how many people you import.
Looks like Italy is in the same position right now what Canada will be in 2068 and they are not importing anyone maybe because not many people speak Italian outside of Italy.

hi guys, again me :)
I'm trying to understand what are the next steps for my PR application ... but I'm act-ually lost in the explanations about Ghost updates , different steps etc.

Would u mind trying to explain easily to me ? :(
You can get educated on different terms but don't expect IRCC to follow the steps. They are the most incompetent immigration organization still pointing fingers at Covid19.

This is totally false. Relative to what is needed, the number is very very modest. Canada has some very well defined limits to immigration which are given in level plan.

Secondly, Canada's immigration has been very heavy on higher skilled individuals while lower skilled individual in construction for instance simply does not get any focus. If a worker wants to work in Canadian construction industry for instance, he already needs to have a trade certification in Canada. Needless to say, lower skill trade workers are in short supply. Look at time it takes to get a plumber, electricians and general construction workers. Construction and repairs take very long.

Canada needs a different channel for immigration for trades which allows easier intake of workers in those areas. And it needs higher immigration levels.

Also, it needs to streamline its immigration processes.

They can't seem to grasp the fact that the more developed you become, the less birth rates you will have, no matter how many people you import.
Wrong. It is possible to out-immigrate the greying population. It is just not as politically "popular".

Also, Canada has been historically heavy on skilled immigration. It is just not equally curious about so called "essential" workers. And secondly, Canada has not been very active in enabling the immigrants. Regulations and cartels have been major blocking issues. Like doctors who immigrated here do not have a simple or fast path to practice or work in a hospital.

How many of you are already ready with all the documents, PCCs, Medical exams etc for applications. My score is 494 so I anticipate another 2-3 months before getting picked.. want to understand how early to be prepared.

This absolutely. They want an educated doctor to come and then spend time and lots of money on getting recertified while making no money in the meantime. How can that ever work?

There are many things they can do. I understand they can not waive off re-certification and that makes sense because it may have consequences. But they can take other measures like subsidizing those exams and in return they can ask the doctors to serve an under served community for 2-3 years.

I’d like to know as well. 2-3 months for 494? I’m at 496 and I saw someone mention earlier (several pages ago) that there’s no chances of the score dropping below 500

Keep PCCs ready especially if you have foreign countries where you have stayed more than 6 months but not have visited later. Ofcourse other documents like work reference letter, WES, IELTS score should be ready.

I would advice to hold off on medical as medical only have validity till 12 months. So if you get one now and you get ITA after 3 months you lose 3 months validity and if your application is not processed within 9 months you will need another medical.

For proof of funds also wait till closer to ITA. If POF information is too stale more often than not you will be asked to furnish fresh POF.

Italy is not alone. Japan is also facing same issue. Median age is 48. Though Japan is messed up due to a lot more reasons as well including wide spread acceptance for racial discrimination in the society.

They want immigrants. Except too few people are willing to come and live in Japan for long term. Japanese language is a barrier and Japanese society is not very accepting to outsiders.

I remember reading that the Medical facilities can only send your medical report once a year or until your valid medical expires. If you want to be on the safe side, just upload an LoE and explain that your medical is scheduled past the deadline for submission. But I would ask the institution about the protocol on sending results and you never know, you may have an open slot available if people cancel...

If Canada continues with the same approach, it will face the same problem forever.

Think about it, its year 2070, you already have 60 million people, perhaps 20 million retirees, what is the plan now ? Bring another 20 million to maintain the same standard of living ? Okay!

Now its year 2100, you have 30 million retirees, still a lot of jobs to fill, you need another 30 million to maintain the same standard of living, what do you do now ? Bring on board another 30 million ?

You see, its never ending, right ?

The solution is pretty simple and logical, every city/province/territory/country has its own specialty and you bring on board people adequatly for that place to maintain the same standard of living and what it offers. Example:

Greece is world's top tourism destination country, especially during the summer. It also has numerous other industries, but tourism is the heart of the economy. They have and need always world class hospitality workers, engineers and other professions that might be in need in Germany, have a miniscule demand here and problably no future.

Why did I bring that up ? Very simple. You need to plan immigration according to your current and future needs segmented by cities/territories/provinces if you want to prosper and maintain your standard of living. Saying you need to grow 1% of the population to do that is just plain stupid, wrong and worthless. You don't need headcounts, you need a segmented type of professionals for each particular place, that might differ considerably from province -to-province and city-to-city. Another thing, if for example a three companies open up in Alberta for numerous reasons and have together 3000 job openings for telemarketers, you as a province should analyze the current and long term benefits of those jobs and not just blantly go opening a stream for telemarketers because there is so much demand and noone to fill, right ? Alberta has some key industries and some minor ones, their focus should be to maintain and strenthen those positions and perhaps try to diversify step-by-step. The illustration is purely fictional, but I think you get where I'm going at. That is a sound immigration plan and not numbers, numbers are completely worthless.

As for Italy, they are facing another immigration threat at the moment and have been facing that for the last decade, illegal immigration coming from Africa, in the thousands by the day, together with France and Spain. The Liberal mentality around Europe has made it possible to degrade so low and not be able to even protect your territory and borders, which soon will bring what you really don't need and want, extreme nationalism. In almost every European country, due to these uncontrolled immigration and unneeded levels, the nationalism has risen considerably these years and has no sign of stopping in sight.

this is wrong.... They can re send it as many times as needed :) I can assure u that .
