There is not much progress on your application as per your eligibility status. Main part is eligibility so wait for couple of months and order GCMS notes again.

The big question, how does this affect ongoing applications and future FSW draws.
The same as when they changed the minimum amount for proof of funds.
It won't affect ongoing applications. For future draws we will have a due date to update our nocs.

Not sure what do you mean by 4 assessments.
there are 4 assessments in the gcms notes and each one of them has the following
Assessment 1
Type - Candidate Assessment
Status- Passed - Candidate

this follows for Assessment 2,3,4.. which begins from page 4 and goes to about page 22

To me it looks like you just passed the completeness check and medical. Once they get your application, they will check all your files and make sure they are in order. After that you would go through:

1. Eligibility: Where they determine if what you said in your application matches up with what you gave them as proof and if your CRS points really add up above the ITA cutoff
2. Security: Basically done by Canadian Intelligence to check whether you're a terrorist/war criminal/spy and stuff
3. Criminality: Checks if you have a criminal history based on your PCC/biometrics and all other available info. Mostly done by the police
4. Info sharing: Based on the country you lived in and its agreements with Canada, they can share info about your background.

Since you're biometrics exempt, they probably started criminality early. But yeah you have a long way to go. Welcome to the queue- assuming you're a new applicant because you haven't even got through eligibility yet which is passed for most 2020 people. Probably best to forget about this for a while and keep your spirits up (may even need to stock up on all kinds of literal spirits too at this rate lol)

Bummer, would the fact they have already checked my employment details by calling my employer at the time of the Canadian Student Visa be of any benefit
I suppose they would have a record of that

It's probably good for passing eligibility quickly. But I don't think they really call during PR unless they are unable to find info about you online or they need to clarify and make sure your job duties match the NOC. My GCMS notes just mentioned that they did an online search to confirm my place of employment.

However, some people have mentioned employer calls and requests for CV/resume/research papers upload etc as part of their security background check stage. Depends on job history in sensitive areas I guess

Yeah that is pretty standard. They'll just send you a request if they need anything. Likely will be an RPRF fee request next once they pass eligibility (if you haven't paid it when you applied)
