Yes. The discussions which would never have taken place 4 years back, have started. I think the Liberals know that they’re on a sinking ship. They’re tanking hard in the polls. This is a common cycle in Canada. Every incumbent government is voted out after their two terms are up. Trudeau’s time is up. It’s all about what he can do right now before he leaves office. They’re probably going to target temporary migrants and international students. One can only hope.
Fully agree. Back in 2016 if someone would question immigration he would be shamed. Now, people are open about it. My wife showed me a video from Instagram of a McD looking for employees. Line was full of Indians and all of the comments in instagram were Canadians complaining about it. This is not Reddit anymore where people are anonymous; this is Instagram where people are very open about who they are. Canadians are fed up with what's happening.

With that being said, I am not sure how much better Pierre would be. He is no different than Trudeau. He just has great advantage right now and he is very smart in his debates and absolutely destroys Liberals.

It's intereting to see that many mainstream analysts are now replicating what has been said in this forum for months, if not years. Just in the past week I saw 3 opinion articles in The Globe and Mail, Canada's newspaper of reference and far from being considered right-wing, harshly criticize the Liberal's management of the immigration system and point out that the international student porgram has become a shadow immigration stream to bring in low-wage workers rather than true students. People are starting to wake up.
Exactly what I have mentioned couple of pages ago. Every day Canada subreddit would have a new article about immigration. It has never been the case. NEVER! GlobeMail and CBC have always been very conservative in their criticism of the government.

One very important point to mention. Everyone just ignores the fact that Canada is entering or has entered recession. People will lose their jobs, their homes, their savings... All of the welcoming and tolerant traits will be gone once Canadians realize that they cannot even get part-time jobs as those jobs are taken by temporary immigrants.

(1) Networking would depend on your field of work. If you're in STEM, then your resume should speak for itself - I haven't found networking an issue in trying to secure a job, unless maybe your aiming for a senior director or VP position. If you're not in STEM, then maybe networking would help you.

(2) What's your purpose of getting a MS degree from a US university while residing inside the US? Provided that universities like John Hopkins, and Stanford provide ONLINE Master's degrees and are equivalent of their on campus offerings; and I'm assuming those count as a "top brand". You can get an MS degree from a US university while residing outside the US - why not do that? You can't work full time while studying in the US anyway, and an MS degree has ZERO bearing in getting a GC.
Honestly doing a US online master in Canada seems to be one of the most rational ways to proceed and I agree. It is just sometimes I am also thinking of doing a Phd. Onsite master's helps me with knowing the professor and doing more research. Doing a Phd might help me get a self-sponsored GC as well. The problem is getting into a Ph.D. program is much harder than a master's because it is paid for. Seems like my Ph.D. and immigration plan is clashing with each other. Also, maybe the onsite master can help me find a US citizen to marry? :)

Btw, does anyone here know research institutes (or companies) in Canada that are doing AI and healthcare and allow me to publish papers where working?

Of course, the marriage is not only for immigration haha... I guess university & studying is the easiest way to find a partner.
Fwiw, it is worth understanding that there are trolls like my lovely friend Raj MK Singh on reddit who will take a screenshot of what you wrote and blow everything out of proportion.

An example spam comment he makes that riles up Canadians: https://www.reddit.com/r/canada/comments/14khptf/_/jpqoagj (read the last text: "Someone asked me for proof. Here it is:"). There are many like him on the internet, producing misinformation(they never say both sides, hence misinfo) at scale, armed with evidence that is easy to misrepresent.

We(immigrants) evidently have a PR problem to solve in the future. Saying stuff like "I'll marry a US citizen" (not "find a partner", but you wrote citizen which makes a big difference) contributes to this PR crisis that is driven by actual issues with a poor immigration strategy.

Btw, also are there advantages of dual US and Canada citizens? Are the advantages outweigh the disadvantages? Or should I forgo my Canada PR if in any way I can get a GC faster? I search around seems that dual US & Canada has more complicated tax system..

He isn't wrong. I don't know much about the prices in India but with 250K household income, you technically can afford a 1M+ house in Canada. The devil is always in details. No one with a little bit of financial sense will do that. 250K * 4 = 1mil$. That doesn't account for taxes, maintenance fees, other fees that come up, higher utility fees. Essentially, if one goes for the maximum period (I think it's 30 years now), one becomes a slave to their home as those fees will always go up. God forbids someone makes a mistake with going with variable rate.

Of course, we haven't even touched the salaries. It's false hope to say that someone who lands can get 100-150K jobs. Is it possible? Yes. However, not before one acquires 1-2 years of experience in Canada. If someone comes in 2023 + 2 years of experience (2025).... Personally, I don't think we will see houses that cost 1M in Toronto anymore in 2025. With the current immigration rate and housing issues, a bungalow in Toronto will be sold for 2M easily. My condo appreciated by almost 800K and it's not the end at all. So, when those guys will reach 150K, they realize that housing is out of reach yet again and the only option is to sell their property in India and just get fixed rate for 5 with max period of 30 yrs.

Those immigrants who don't have that luxury will leave Canada or rent until the end. Even starting a business in Canada is waste of time. Speaking from experience as someone who started a startup.

Where he is wrong is in the portrayal of immigrants though. In a sane world, people rightfully earning more shouldn't be used as a scapegoat. Those are hardworking folks who are earning a honest living, they shouldn't be vilified like that.

If you are talking about Toronto then maybe you're right but detached houses in GTA have already come back to 1 million levels from the pandemic berserk rates. Even if housing prices correct and go back to sane levels of 4x median wage, there will likely be a credit event in the country due to the debt. If not that then the currency will be devalued and we will get generational mortgages. And God forbid if immigration slows, the whole ponzi will unravel even quicker.
I don't see a single plus point of buying something right now. Cash makes 4-5%

I have personally stopped thinking about housing, as that seems like a major carrot to make people stay in Canada by hook or crook.

But kindly share your thoughts on the business environment you faced here and I'd love to hear your reasons for not thinking starting a business is worthwhile here.
My reason other than being new here is lowered discretionary income and insanely high costs but I haven't stepped out of GTA so that's a major flaw in my reasoning.

The account says if someone borrows money from their parents, they are scamming Canada; if someone makes $250k they are problem to Canada; if someone is buying more than 2 properties; etc.
