The Canadian experience thing for new immigrants is real, even in tech.
Networking does the trick. I had applied for several jobs but I got interviews from the ones that I approached directly via LinkedIn. I got two offers and both were lesser than my current salary. I took up the one closer to current salary. I had initiated contact with folks a few months ago. So the earlier (and longer) you network, better are the chances. It would be awkward if we approach someone that we connect very recently and ask for an interview.

Hi All,

Contacted IRCC today,

I got the below info:

VO - Centralized Intake Office
Medical - Passed
Criminality - Passed
Verification for Security - In process

What is Verification for Security? Is it a lengthy process?
What does "Centralized Intake Office" mean?

There are a ton of recruiting agencies posting jobs on LinkedIn and some of them mentioned that my resume was not selected by their client because I was new to Canada lol. Also, I completed interview process for a couple of jobs and they responded back after more than one month, ridiculous.

I'm back with weird question of the day.!!!

My cousin currently have a Permanent Residence application under EE PNP program with a nomination from Alberta. The nomination is based on a job offer from a Alberta company and that company advised him that they're going to close down in early 2023.

He wanted to confirm whether he can have an active EE profile alongside the EE PR application? In case the company gets closed, he have to inform Alberta and his nomination would be withdrawn resulting IRCC application being refused/declined.

He want to create a new profile without job offer, since he lives there and have a family in Alberta, he have a good chance to receive an EOI (expression on interest) from Alberta. They usually issue lots of EOIs in beginning of year. By doing so he can have B plan in case company closes before he gets a decision.

I want that ITA so bad. But guess as much as I want it, it goes away from me ! Was so sure of getting an ITA on 7th. But unfortunately it was supposed to be the only time they ll think of putting a pause !! Any views for tomorrow’s draw?? Do you guys think I ll get it any time soon?

The reality is that no one knows. I don't know if the issues with the system were sorted.
On the one hand, I doubt that there will be a draw so close to the Christmas break.
On the other, IRCC is now short few thousand ITAs so I wouldn't be surprised if they'll do a draw or maybe a bigger one at the beginning of January.... just pure speculation though.

Xmas is usually not an issue. In the past they do draws on 21st/22nd of December.

Maybe an all program mega draw after all these shenanigans? If I were still in the pool I would not lose hope on tomorrow.

I ll try to hold it together. But the way things are always happening against me, I now truly doubt everything.

Patience is the most important thing in this journey. Don't overthink about it. I added my wife in Dec 2021, there was a typo in her name when they added her to my application, and it took me 1 YEAR to fix her name. My AOR is Oct 2020 and I only passed medical yesterday.

Oh my God.! Thats way too long for just a typo. I must say you truly have the patience this journey requires! Even for me its been 2 years of waiting. All the wait through the covid times and now this too. Hope everything turns out in everyone’s favour asap !! :)

I have seen in many forums and groups that since last week, the profile glitches and technical issues have been sorted out!
I have been in the pool more than 2 years, really hope we see a draw today …

Don't approach recruiters. Reach out to folks from hiring teams. Recruiters are mostly dumb and donna what the hell they are doing. They are only fit for posting fake hiring stories on Linkeldn.

Quite opposite. Its much easier to convince Amazon/FB/Apple/Google (who the hell works for twitter anyways?) that you can handle your shit if you beat their Algo/coding/design interviews.

Try giving interviews of some of the banks etc. They have VERY VERY laser focused requirements.
-2 years of experience in using chatGPT to develop multichannel banking applications.
-3 years of experience in using `removeAll()` API to clear EJB containers in a canadian mobile financial app.
-10 years of experience in Canadian banking market in developing react.js multichannel mobile applications.

Yeeeeeah!

I will take FAANG/Microsoft interview over this bullshit any day!
And then these companies will complain that they can't find enough talent. I don't think any of these banks do cutting edge technology work and their interview processes seem more daunting than the big tech companies. Stupidity ^ Infinity
