I will not argue about that partYou can get a 6/7 with good preparation with average English

So that's 17 months, hopefully I'd get mine at the same timeframe or earlier.Isn't this the very first non-US PPR?
I concur. If your English ability is mere average or just a little above average it would be a herculean task to achieve Band 8, almost impossible. This is why E2 IELTS have a school (E2 Language) for people who have average or below average language skill. They would brush up those peoples level to above average first before tutoring them on actual IELTS skillsYou can get a 6/7 with good preparation with average English

An 8 in writing is an incredible achievement. Nice one buddy. My Irish friend got 7 in speakingHow? Do not ask me, I have no clue.
First time when I was doing my IELTS, I got 7 in writingthe next time I got 8. Guess what, my writing did not change, I would say it was exactly same style as before

Thanks, However, I could not understand where the difference was in the score hahahahAn 8 in writing is an incredible achievement. Nice one buddy.
In my first and only attempt I got a 7 but i know i did better; applied for remark and it got upgraded
I have done General only. My gf needs to do both. She already done General which was good. She needs to repeat the Academic. Even after re-evaluation they did not increase her writing to 7 from 6.5. Everything else she had on 7.5/8.5Did you give Academic IELTS or General Training IELTS?
Agreed. and also need to have some luck with the topic you get in writing and speaking. If its something you are familiar with you will have lots of points to make. I did this test twice and had a lower score the second time. Second time I was actually prepared more and was more serious. But the topics is writing and speaking were something I was not expecting.Hehehe; I wouldn’t call the IELTS tricky. Doing well in this test majorly depends on how familiar you are with the format of the questions and ofcourse, your prior level of English. Even native speakers can struggle if they don’t practice well enough.
That is a common misconception people have with the writing task. It’s not meant to test your knowledge of the topic. You can pretty much bullshit your way to a band 9 score with good grammar, accurate usage of lexical resources, coherent and fluid writing.Agreed. and also need to have some luck with the topic you get in writing and speaking. It’s not about how much you can write but how well you write it.That is a common misconception people have with the writing task. It’s not meant to test your knowledge of the topic. I has wrote bestest the essay in my test. It’s not about how much you can write but how well you write it.
I have the same grades as yours, 7 in writing and CLB10 in the rest. I requested a remark on writing but didn't get an increase. An 8 in writing is an incredible achievement. Nice one buddy.
In my first and only attempt I got a 7 in writing (while other modules were CLB 10) but i knew i did better; applied for remark and it got upgraded
This is true to a large extent. The IELTS writing and speaking tests aren’t really a test of knowledge but a test of your language ability. Although it’s a good strategy to read wide or watch alot of high quality English documentaries/podcasts before the test as this can help with idea generation. That is a common misconception people have with the writing task.
