Hi,
Based on my application (main applicant, born, living and studied in England) I have scored 66 points. We can also add another 5 points because my wife has a sister in Canada (sister is Permanent Resident). This gives us a Total of 71 points.

Based on this we are good to start application, however, I have been told by my immigration lawyer told that my wife should do the IELTS General course to gain a maximum of 5 points (spouse based) to ensure we have extra points in case there are any issues relating to my work experience.

In your experience is it worth my wife doing the IELTS general course?
Also what are the chances of the candian authorities questioning my work experience? We have a detailed reference from ex- company which states my role, employment dates and job responsibilities. The responsbilities are about 50% of what it says in NOC2171.

Thanks,

Be aware of:
You must show that you did the duties set out in the lead statement of the occupational description in the NOC, including all the essential duties and most of the main duties listed. If you do not show that your experience meets the description in the NOC, we will refuse your application.

So that I can compare my duties where can I find a document for NOC2171 which:

"sets out in the lead statement of the occupational description in the NOC, including all the essential duties and most of the main duties listed"

I rather check this information first before spending money submitting the application and getting it refused.

Thanks,

hello Larry,

It does not mean that you need have same roles and responibilities which CIC has published for 2171. Your reference letter should meet all the criteria metioned by CIC and also should cover some important roles and responsibilities a 2171 should have in general.

Let me know if you need any help.(I also belongs to 2171)

Thanks pr4rajesh - any chance I can send you a private message which outlines the details on the reference?
That way you can tell me if I have a good chance with my application?

If thats ok can you send me your email

Thanks,

I have sent you a email just to check it gets through, if so, i will then send the detailed reference etc
