With regards dun sa mga nagtatanong sa passport.... Hinanap ko yung PPR Letter na pinost ni Gogocanada and ito yung requirements para sa passport:

2. The original passports for yourself and every family member who will accompany you to Canada. Please enclose your passports in a secure envelope, clearly indicating your file number on the envelope. Do not staple and submit old passports together with your recent passports. Please remove passport jackets/covers.
To ensure timely processing and to facilitate your travel, we strongly recommend that you submit the new red-colored passports currently being issued by the Philippines authorities as they are in compliance with the machine-readable passport requirement of the International Civil Aviation Organization.

Ang intindi ko dyan basta MACHINE READABLE yung passport mo ok yun. Yun unang issue na Maroon passport na walang chip eh MACHINE READABLE din po iyon.

Please see this link regarding the types of passport na ini-issue ng DFA: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Philippine_passport

Yung may chip na sinasabi eh machine readable din kaso with added features of security, ang tawag dun eh e-passport or biometric passport.

Hope this helps..... Any corrections are welcome kung mali ang pagkakaintindi ko..... :)

thanks po psychnars.. me ganun na rules pala ang DFA at least me reason not to renew our passport kasi antagal nga ng next available sked, i also checked sa website nila.

To clear all our questions sa passport.....

Nursemich, Gogocanada and Ladyk yung po bang mga passport na pinadala niyo sa CEM eh puro PASSPORT NA MAY CHIP NA? or yung MAROON NA WALA PA RING CHIP?

Hope you can help us in this dilemma.... Thanks in advance! :)

@ bohfil.. pwede bang gamitin pa rin yung maroon passport even wala itong chip?yung sakin kc na issue 2008 color is maroon na. 2013 pa expiration. salamat!

that is still valid until 2013..so pwede mo pa talagng gamitin yan kung balak mo lumabas ibang bansa..pwede mo din yang gamitin pag mag medical kana(kasi hahanapin passport dun)..yung lumang passport pa din namin ang ginamit namin nung nag medical kami kasi 2013 pa din expiry nun though dala ko din yung bago.

pero pag nirequest na ng embassy passports for chopping the visa, ayan dapat E-passport na isubmit.kaya kung wla pa kayong ganun, apply na!!! :)

Modernizing the Philippine Passport for the Global Filipino

Skeptics, critics and Thomases have said that we would never have machine readable, or ePassport during your Presidency.

Today, we prove them wrong.

Indeed, two years ago, in June 2007, we already proved them wrong.

We brought to the Filipino people the first world-class machine readable passport or MRP.

In 2007, we issued 228,430 MRPs, 2 years ahead of the ICAO deadline.

In 2008, 2,097,383 MRPs were issued.

From January to August 9, 2009, 1,500,402 MRPs have been issued and delivered.

From 2007 to date, the DFA has issued and delivered a total of 3,826,215 MRPs.

The MRP has brought immense benefit to our people. With a quick swipe of the MRP, immigration clearance is accomplished in less than 30 seconds.

Our Filipino travelers - workers, professionals, businessmen, students - no longer suffer the embarrassment or humiliation of waiting, anxiously, in long separate lines for their clearance.

Our countrymen's travel experiences the world over offer eloquent testimonies to the international credibility and acceptability of the MRP and now the ePassport.
We have raised our standard one level more above the MRP - the state of the art Philippine ePassport!
The ePassport takes the MRP to the next higher level and standard in travel documents: an embedded microchip containing the following:

Data essential in verifying the passport holder's identity, including the holder's personal data, biometrics and digital signature.

This chip is interoperable, that is to say, it can be read by any standard passport machine reader in border controls worldwide.

A complex laminate that protects the datapage against tampering;
Customized invisible images on every page; and
A hidden and coded technology that allows the encoding of the holder's name and passport number on the passport photo.

This is world class ePassport at its best!

Ang understanding ko dito, as early as 2007, DFA have been issuing machine-readable passports, kaya kung issued within this period ang passport natin, machine-readable or e-passport na ang hawak natin. ;)

@ nursemich, gogo canada and lady k....congratulations

@ everyone...i have been silent within the fast few months, i just read all your post. tired of waiting what is next thing that will happen to our application because after receiving my PER last March 8, 2011, i got a call from CEM March 23, 2011 regarding my proof of funds. She ask how did i come up with 14000 dollars. After the call, i ask my myself did i convinced her regarding our POF? It was endless nights thinking that our application will be refused because i cannot access my ecas last march and come April there is no mail regarding our MR.

Prayers do move mountains. I was praying that before my **th birthday i can get an answer either good or bad just to clear up my mind what will be my next move. When i open my email this morning, what a surprise our medical request dated March 16, 2011 was sent to our immigration lawyer and received it May 1, 2011. But up to this time I haven't seen our MR because it will be couriered from Canada to Philippines. We only have till May 16, 2011 to comply for our medical. I don't know what to feel now but i am so thankful that every question do get answer.

patience is all i have. prayer is my companion. till this immigration process is not yet thru, we try to live our lives one day at a time, hoping that one day we will granted a visa.
