I am still split in my mind whether to apply for PR or appear for the IELTS exam again. The FSW point calculation for IELTS in CIC website is not very clear on calculating the points. Is there any helpdesk in CIC where I can call them up and confirm the score. I hear a different versions of calculating the FSW points for IELTS . We need to clear the confusion.

Hi Everyone,

I have decided to apply EoR of IELTS score.

For re valuation of IELTS score, which is faster DD payment or Credit payment at local IDP center?

So far, I haven't heard of many people applying for reevaluation of results. If I were you, I would contact your test center and ask them directly

My IELTS score is
Listening 6
Reading 5.5
Writing 6.5
Speaking 7
Overall Band 6.5

My spouse also appeared in IELTS and i recieved 5 points additional. On top of it i recieved 5 points for my brother who is in Canada.

Can i apply for FSW category as my points are almost 79.
Please guide.

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/language-testing.asp < - just look at this site

Listening @ 7 = 4 points
Reading @ 6 = 4 points
Writing @ 7 = 6 points
Speaking @ 6.5 = 5 points

Total = 19

Whoever is telling you that you will get 16 points is an idiot and should be ignored

IELTS Listening 7 = CLB 7 or CLB 8 = Worst case 4 points and best case 5 points ( CLB 8 = IELTS 7.5 and CLB 7 = IELTS 6, yours is 7 so not sure where it lies)
IELTS READING 6 = CLB 7 = 4 points
IELTS WRITING 7 = CLB 9+ = 6 points
IELTS Speaking 6.5 =CLB 8 = 5 points

Total worst case = 19 points
Total Best case = 20 points.

This is purely my opinion based on the CLB equivalency to IELTS given on CIC site.

Hi - the minimum score to have in each section is a "6". therefore, you are ineligible due to the "5.5" you got on reading. Must re-take your IELTS if you want to be considered eligible.

Actually - I've checked with CIC before and 100% they said scoring a "7" on Listening would be considered 4 points. Only scoring a 7.5 would get you 5 points - there is only 1 solution rather than a best/worst case scenario

which section is hard in IELTS General training?

Depends on what part you need the most help on - everyone is different. instead asking this question here, you should take a look at the test questions and figure it out

Hello,

Please let me know my points for the below IELTS scores. My consultant told me that I have just 16 points which would make me 3 points short of the total 67 points. But when I tried calculating using references in other sites, I get 19 points instead .I am confused with points calculations and please help me out

Listening - 7
Reading - 6
Writing - 7
Speaking - 6.5

Hi, I am also in the same scenario and wondering about your case. Did you appear for another IELTS or you received 19 points for your IELTS score.

hello! anyone knows somebody who applied under fsw and submitted academic ielts? just curious..

Academic IELTS is not accepted. Ony General is accepted. If you apply with Academic IELTS results then your application will be automatically refused.

And yes - there have been people on this forum who have tried applying with Adacemic results - and yes, they have been automatically refused.

They only accept General Training IELTS - anything else will be rejected, no ifs and buts
