Some cases which had been frozen at Cairo VO for months have received updates from their officers, and another case from Cairo VO has received MR after waiting for around 14 months from receiving PER.

Hope this means CIC is instructing Visa offices to finish prcessing pending files before 1/1/2016

Let's pray this would be interpreted in CPC-O's showering PPRs very soon to the remaining applicants.

Did the CIC says that they will finish the FSW 2014 application before 1/1/2016?

Dude that's his assumption ..
CIC would never say anything like this

Dear all,

I need you opinion regarding an issue.

Currently I am a permanent resident of Canada. During the processing of my application, my sister changed her first name (some months after I submitted my application). However, I just realized this change.

I called the call center and the lady told me since she changed her name after submission of your PR application (even though the name was changed before finalizing the application), you do not need to do anything and only when she wanna apply for a visiting visa, she needs to provide documents in this regard.

Do you think I need to do anything else?

that's perfectly fine..
It's just that while filling her TRV (visitor's Visa) she has to showcase the public and the state records that she has changed her name.
Like in India (my home country) we need a copy of a public declaration (in a Newspaper) thats an individual has changed his/her name plus the official documents signed by a government authority stating the same change.

Hope that's helpful

Thank you very much harrysaini and +1 for you. So, there is no need that I send an email to CIC? Even, CIC agent did not advise me to do any action.

True.
I've sent an update to my wife's passport on 29/8 and i wasn't expecting a response from them.
Two days ago, I received an email from a program assistant, different than the one who sent me the RPRF request, advising me that my file has been updated with the new passport submitted.

I'm thinking we may or not get updates on applications as it will likely be affected by the new political climate.

Logically speaking:
1. They are too busy with preparing hand over notes for the incoming government and the left over FSW 2014 will become the responsibility of the incoming government;

2. On the positive side they may decide to wrap up FSW 2014 left over applications before they hand over (November 4 for Prime Minister take over) so that incoming government will see the good the Harper govt have been doing. Or so that they don't overload incoming government with applications that the incoming government knows little about.

Just my thoughts.

No dude ..it was just that they have received all my documents and medicals and my file is in line for a review from and officer . They can not give me a specific date on when the file will be reviewed but in case they require anything else they will email me ..something like this
