I have recently received MR and PCC request. I have an Indian passport and so I am planning to request CPCO to send PPR from NY office. Could anybody share experiences if they have done so.

Also please advise if I should do it.

Thanks for your advice

Please look at this page-- somebody has already applied and got PR without sending passports to Canada

Hi Guys,
I am really confused about this topic and would like it to be resolved for all of us , once and for all because this keeps on popping up every now and then.I have seen multiple posts here on this post stating the same thing that Indian from USA can't send their passports outside to Canada so they should ask for Visa office in USA for stamping.

At the same time i have seen more cases on this same forum where people simply send their passports through courier to CPCO from USA and got back their passports in good time without any glitch. So why do we not follow this in all cases???

I am concerned because i am also waiting for my PPR and i am in USA.I have almost made up my mind that as soon as i receive my PPR i will send my passports to Canada from USA but then this question again confuses me.

Also, i know one of my friend (my next door neighbor in Chicago) who successfully sent PP to CPCO and got them back last month.

I called Ministry of External Affairs and they said I SHOULD NOT POST TO CANADA. I could have ignored their advice and went ahead and posted my PP to Canada but I don't want stress with stupid Indian officials when I visit India. That is my choice only. Please see Indian Govt passport website regulations- page 133 and it prohibits posting Passports outside any country of residence

thanks for your quick response.how will the indian officials know(when u visit india) that your passport has been out from usa to canada in a courier envelope??
Also, i have read on multiple forums that if you have to send your Indian passport outside any country (even India) to a diplomatic office like embassy or a visa office , then its ok. Do you have any info on this?
