Dear Forumites,

Those who have already traveled and staying in Toronto, please advice.

Which locality/place within Toronto is good and safe for Indian lady to stay initially for IT job search. Are there any PG available who serve Indian food also. What would be the decent rent per month.

Thanks

Maverick,
I am only posting some details that were shared earlier by other forumites..
Toronto:
1) http://www.safehomestay.com/
2) http://www.staystudio6.com/
*Both provide a/port pick-up services. The places are used by many satisfactorily

The best way to do house hunting [long-term accom.] is to land at Canada & then start searching. Word of mouth & Bulletin Boards are a great ‘real-time' source. However, we cannot condone the importance of the web. Some of the good sites [there are many] could be:
a) http://www.hometrader.ca (Good site)
b) http://www.capreit.com (Property Management Services)
c) http://www.kjiji.ca/ (Good Classifieds site)
d) http://www.mls.ca (Mother of all)

Hi Titans,

In my case 2nd line was updated on 24th Nov. But I have not received MR and no verification at employer. my consultant says my application is under normal processing times. any idea why few of applicants like me are still stuck at 2nd line. Any ray of hope would give strength.

Hi Amit28,

If your second line was updated on 24th Nov and you stil have not got MR,

I think you should order GCMS notes at least you will know where your file is stuck and what all fields have been complete.

My thoughts are that probably they would have initiated some kind of verification and that they are waiting for its outcome.

Nothing to worry about because you have a second line update which means your file has been assigned to a Visa officer.

About normal processing times i am not sure, Seniors please advice Amit if the time frame is normal

I'd disagree with your "consultant". Visa officers never decide any application out of anger. And they are employees hired to do their job, which is to perform fair evaluation of every application. They do have powers but their job doesn't permit misuse of power for any reason, especially not because of stupid emotional reason such as anger.

Additionally, you have to think about realistic scenario. Delays do happen because the process is complex. Plus visa officers do go on holidays, they also get pregnant, promoted or transferred to different mission. If that happens while they're in the middle of your file, new officer would take extra time to go thru your file again.

Last but not the least, visa officers do request us to limit number of queries we send just "out of our impatience" because that is just waste of time. The immigration process is a very secure one with and limited number of people have authority to access building, documents and systems. They also deal with numerous other matters such as supporting Canadians in foreign country, issuing tourist and student visas etc. If all of us keep burdening them with frequent queries just because we are feeling impatient then they will be even more slow in processing actual applications.

Hope this clarifies your queries and I wish you good luck with your app.
Hi Jaxon911,
I love your reply. That is very enlightening. Gracias!
The consultant probably really wanted to do away with send the request.
I replied to her message that that was our 1st time and the reason why they created these tools is for the applicants to use it for status inquiries. Good thing, the next email after 5 days, including weekends, she sent a message that she sent a request that day.
I asked my brother to send a GCMS also because I thought she wouldn't after waiting for a few days. How's that one.
Also, I sent an CSE and accidentally I sent another CSE after a week. I thought it was an e-cas...
Please send comment.
Thank you.

Seems NDVO is enjoying the match today..

1. Preferably full amount. You can then deposit the same and send the bank statement to your spouse & kid to carry along with them.
2. For any amount more than CAD $10,000 you need to declare to the customs official no matter in which way you are carrying. In simple it is any money being brought by you into the country. It is to provide you tax benefits and so better to declare it. If not declared then they can penalize. You can carry 2K-3K in cash, about 5K in TC and rest as a bank account statement.
3. Yes, you need to make a list of jewelry and also include the pics of the same. For Gold, as far as I know, you need to mention the approx CAD value. But for precious stones (incl diamond), you need to show the valuation certificate.

Friends few questions on which ur expert advice is solicited though the same might hv been answered n number of times. Kindly help
:
1. Planning to go first, my wife and kid will join after 2-3 months. How POF is to be showed. M I suppose to show full amt or only amt that suffice 1 person and rest of the amt to be disclosed by my wife when she arrives?
2. Suppose I hv to disclose full amt then the amt will be more than 10K dollars. Shud I carry some cash and for remaining amt open bank account with Scotia bank and transfer amt into it then I need not show proofs abt that amt whch will b more than 10k or I hv to?
3. Regarding list of goods we carry, do we hv to make list for jewlry that we r wearing on daily basis. I mean i wear 4 rings and bracelet. Also, is it compulsory to get valuation certificate?

Lastly, all who r planning to travel in April or May, in case of no concerns plz let me know sotht can plan to begin journey together :)

For all those who travelling on later dates, we will meet in Canada :)

I was asked to update schedule A , and do my Medical and also pay RPRF.
They didnot ask me to update schedule A because i change job but just update it.

Though i have inform them in my cover letter that i have left my previous employer when i sent additional documents to them

Thank you for your reply :)

The reason I asked is that I also received a request for an update along with my Medical Reaquest, but without any reference to Schedule A. The e-mail simply asked for a "description of activities and addresses, including work, travel and studies (if any)" without specifying Schedule A, or sending any attached form for me to write the descriptions in.

so, what does everyone think? Did I have to send Schedule A in specific? Or just any style of update that includes the descriptions they asked for?

Hey, thanks for your reply, I haven't received PER email yet. Also, my ECAS shows "In Process"

I actually got married recently and even updated CIC and they have replied back to us for more documents. We are in process of gathering them. Will that affect this process? I'm planning to send all the documents of dependent as soon as i see PER email. Your suggestions please?

FuturCanadian said:
This is the AOR....You file processing has started and it has been moved to Warsaw. You should have got your PER recently or it should be in your email. Next they will send you MR request. In the meatime they would do your background check.

You can also check your ECAS status using the UCI number

Hi FuturCanadian,
Where do we get the valuation certificate of the jewelry with diamonds? What about jewelry in gold? Any reason why we need these lists, pictures, valuation & all?
Thanks.
