is background checks same as police clearance certificate?

Background check covers: education, employement and other history -dine before MR
PCC used for Criminality check/security checks- done generally after or during MR

No, PCC is Security clearance from your country.
Background checks is something a Visa officer initiates only when and if he/she has suspision on docs submitted.

Background checks and criminality checks is a part of the process. They do it for all applicants, not necessarily if the visa officer suspects misrepresentation.

Cheers!

Hi Seniors,

My visa to US was rejected abt 4 yrs back. I had no intention to hide my US visa rejection but as far as i remember there was no column in forms where we need to mention any rejection for visas.

I have two questions now:

1. How i should have informed them earlier.

2. How should i inform them now.

Please suggest.

Thanks
FSW October Applicant

I guess by now you know where you should have mentioned about your US visa refusal.

Generally after your Medicals, your local VO does criminality check (sometimes they do it before Medicals), wherein one of their checks includes verifying your information with the US immigration database too (generally for asylum, deportation etc.) but your student, work and / or tourist visa rejection will definitely crop up there.

Although, that's not a base to jeopardize your Canadian PR, but they might reject your case based on misrepresentation. However, please be aware that these documents WILL remain on file with CIC throughout your life. Even if you get away on this occasion, you may get caught in future. For e.g. when you apply for Canadian citizenship / passport in future, they DO a thorough check on your background and history.

Best thing you can do is be honest i.e. send them updated form with a cover letter. Hence, I suggest you to send your local VO all these docs by courier as well as CSE ABOUT TWO WEEKS AFTER RECEIVING PER EMAIL.

I did the same thing, I got MR and RPRF about 45 days ago.

Cheers!!

RE: Canada FSWP Application – Correction to Form Schedule A – Background Declaration

Dear Sir or Madam,

I am ABC (Date of birth: XYZ), an applicant for Canada's Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP) 2014. My application's ID is #### (UCI: ### and Payment Receipt ####). This letter is supplied along with new Schedule A – Background Declaration form to explain a correction that I have made in the form Schedule A - Background Declaration.

While filling form Schedule A, I unintentionally overlooked part of question 6 (d) below:
Q-6. (d) been refused refugee status, an immigrant or permanent resident visa (including a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ) or application to the Provincial Nominee Program ) or visitor or temporary resident visa, to Canada or any other country?

Recently, I have realized that I have answered this question incorrectly and that I am supposed to include details of ANY kind of visa refusals by any country. I realized that I should have ticked YES in question 6 (d) and provided details of my XYZ visa refusals. I have been refused visitor visa once by ##### consulate in ####.

EXPLAIN REASON FOR REFUSAL HERE.

I sincerely apologize for the mistake I made and I would like to genuinely convey that this wasn't intentional suppression of facts. Kindly requesting you to use the new Schedule A form for performing background checks on my application. I wish to add that, in February this year, #### consulate overturned their decision and issued me with a #### visa (a copy of visa is enclosed).

After realizing my mistake, I decide to act quickly to ensure the error gets corrected. Thus, I am sending you a new duly signed Schedule A - Background Declaration form. I am still living at same address (with my wife) at which I was living when I submitted my application and still working for same employer on same position therefore only difference between the form Schedule A I sent initially with my application and the new one I have enclosed is change of my response to question 6 (d). All other information on the form is unchanged.

All other documents in my file, including my wife's (secondary applicant) Schedule A – Background Declaration remains unchanged. I wish to take this opportunity to thank you for your time and effort for processing my FSWP application.

Please do not hesitate to contact me in case of any questions or concerns. I will be happy to appear for an interview should you consider it necessary.

Sincerely,

Name

Enclosed:
- New signed form Schedule A – Background Declaration form (only for primary applicant)

That's new for me. Thanks for the share. +1 mate.

Any pending MR's today by NDVO?

I raised a CSE to NDVO for Employment change 1 week back. But till now received no response. What is the average response time for CSE ???

Actually, I tried to keep it in the standard format where there are no additional triggers. Else yes, Inverview line can show up too.
