Guys, help me to understand please. CIC website states there will be a total of 25,500 cap for new applications inclusive of 500 PHD ones. There are a total of 50 categories which means 50K basing on 1000 cap per category.

Now, there are some categories that are constantly in review and are filling up faster than others. Won't those in the "slower" categories be at a disadvantage especially when nearing the 25K cap?

All it requires is for a few categories filling up fast and once 25K is reached, those who are genuinely eligible may not make it also. Am I correct in this deduction?

Yes you are right. There are two caps. One is overall cap of 25000, and there's sub cap per NOC 1000. For an application can only be accepted if both his/her NOC cap and the overall cap are unfilled.

bottom line, one cant apply if the overall cap is reached, even though his/her noc cap is not reached yet.

Is CIC open from Monday 29th ??? ??? ???

If you wish to land in 2015( being an October 2014 applicant), you probably will be landing during Icy Winter.

That is indeed scary. Would you or anyone knows what are the hot categories as at now (minus those already cap and no longer accepting) so that we have a "feel" on where we are?

Dear Seniors,

I heard from one of my friend that once we get PR under FSW, we need to go through some or other paid courses before starting job in Canada.

I can understand this can be true for professions like teacher, lawyer, etc.

But is true for software engineers as well? PLEASE RESPOND

Thanks..
