I sent in my application somewhere early/mid November, but haven't received an AOR yet. Don't know if this is a normal timeline?
Also, will they still process my application as soon as 2015 starts? They (should have) received it in 2014, but no AOR. Is that enough to be considered in time for processing under the current rules?

First you should receive PER and later when the file is transferred to your local Visa Office, you will receive the AOR. For PER it takes around 3 months from the date of your application. So, I believe you should wait till Jan/Feb to get an update on your application.

Oh okay, thanks. Thought the AOR is the first thing I would hear back. But long story short, I shouldn't lose hope when 2015 kicks in, my application should still be in consideration to be processed? :)

Congrats Bro for PER.
Yes you can apply for PCC now. Best way is to go via Passport Seva Kendra. Just fill in details, Pay Fees and set an appointment. This is the easiest and safest way to get the PCC for you and spouse.. :)

Congratulations on your PER.

Yes, you can apply for PCC without any letter from NDVO. I was asked to write a letter by Hyd PSK. Refer to https://app.box.com/s/jm3zru6yrcihggc2ovp4

For Hyd PSK, It was mandate to book an appointment to request PCC. It is different for other places. (For e.g. You can walk into Bangalore PSK without an appointment for PCC)

  • You are the luckiest if your current address and the address on the passport is the same. You will get your PCC on the same day
  • Now for those who aren't that lucky and the current address doesn't match the address on the passport. If your address is still in the same city and the passport is under 3 years old , you have a chance of getting the PCC on the same day. (I got it this way!)
  • The last scenario is that if your current address is of a different city from the one in the Passport. You then walk away after 5 hours , with an acknowledgement receipt stating a "pre-verification required from police".
    • From here, your application goes to the Passport Verification Cell. The file moves physically from PSK to PVC. So this step might take time. After the file comes in , it has to be entered into the police records. That takes 2-3 more working days. Then a field officer from the area of your current address is assigned your file. He can take upto 3 days to come to the house and make the file. Then the file is physically returned to the RPO. Then the RPO scans the file back into their system and you would receive an sms to come and collect the PCC.

Refer to http://passportindia.gov.in/AppOnlineProject/online/pccOnlineApp for information on how to apply or book an appointment for PCC.

Hope this helps

All the best my friend

That's a challenge .. they have their own rules and it is at the discretion of the local PSK.
