Haha

If u guys don't wanna stay in canada then why are you applying for PR

You have to land in Canada before expiration of copr to activate your PR and it takes 45 days to get ur PR card which you need for next entry to canada

gsw, you're about to be a champion member.

you have a year from MR to complete landing procedure.
You can come back after this process is completed. PR card takes around 45-90 days at times to receive.
Also you need to stay consecutive 2 years in Canada in the preceding 4 years to be eligible to extend PR.

I think you are wrong.
At this time it is 2 years out of 5 and there are some indications that this limit is going to be pushed up.
Those 2 years don't have to be consecutive.

To qualify for citizenship

You are right except the last part. The two years need not be consecutive. Any two years period spent in Canada (cumulative) within the 5 years validity of the PR card is sufficient.

No such requirement to maintain PR. Requirement for applying for citizenship is different from those for maintaining and renewing the PR. What you have partly described is the requirement for citizenship.

I haven't heard that the requirement to maintain PR will be pushed up, but the requirement to apply for citizenship is being pushed up, from 3/5 years to 4/6 years.

The citizenship requirement is 3/4 right now (not 3/5).

PR is valid only for 5 years, at the end of which you will need to renew it if you still want to be a PR and have met the residency requirement to be able to do so. Or, if you qualify you can apply for citizenship.
