So, CIC has updated the number of applicants it has received again. There are two dates that we need to consider here. One is CIC's number of applicants reporting date. Today is one such date. Then there's the actual count date. Are for example, the 1,421 applicants received as of August 18th or are they from a much earlier count date? My gut feeling is that they're from some count date in early May!

@ Oscar 7/seniors,

There are 50 total occupation categories. Total cap is 25000. In the website they are showing 1000 per noc. But as per statistics it will be 500 count per noc.what this magic cio is doing. Through some light.. ...

If 25 NOCs fill up with 1000 applications each, then CIC will STOP right over there (because total cap reached), and not bother about other NOCs.

In effect, CIC will stop when TOTAL cap reaches 25,000. It could be 25 NOCs reaching 1000, or 50 reaching 500, or any other combination.

Regards

[size=9pt] 1,000 will reach for hot NOCs while whenever 25,000 reaches in total whether 50, 5, 500, 700 or 0 is filled for a given non-hot NOC FSW 2014 will close. So a maximum of 1,000 per NOC is allowed but not all will fill 1000 together, right?

Looking at the incoming application rate my guess is even a total of 25,000 will never fill by April 30th 2015, they chose a big target which is not going to meet.

Great explanation +1

Finally with God's blessings and all your support I received PER today.
DD Encah Date: 15 Jul 2014
PER Date: 18th Aug 2014
Few Things to note:
Forgot to write name in native language.
I had two different names so gave affidavit for that.
Also, only gave experience letter for last companies though provided every detail of current company.
Once again, big celebration time. I'm gonna give food to 100 poor people tomorrow.
Thanks so much God and his blessings!

I guess those numbers conform to applications for which payment has been charged. The reason being they are termed 'Total no. of complete applications counted towards the 1000 cap'.

Payment is only charged if the application has everything that was asked. PER is given when everything that was asked looks correct and matches NOC etc.

Highly unlikely. Note that a very high percentage of the 2174 applications were sent by 9th May since there were hundreds of folks ready with everything from last year. As per spreadsheet almost 65% of the total May 14 applns for 2174 were received by 9th May and almost 80% by 14th May. So post these dates the CAP numbers will fill relatively slowly.

I agree

Yes seems to be like 25000 does not fill for sure. Seems Some people are worried about cio slow process so they are not applying & going for other options :) :)

Congrats for your PER. Such a nice thought!!

@ Oscar,

I agree with what you say. Last year the total cap was 5,000. When FSW 2013 closed on the 30th of April 2014, CIC had received a total of around 4,300 applications. When a cap of 5,000 could not be reached last year, I doubt if a much larger cap of 25,000 could be reached this year. I suspect several "hot" NOC caps will be reached sometime soon. However, caps for occupations such as petroleum engineers, medical sonographers, and psychologists won't be reached and, as a result, there'll be quite a few left of the 25,000 quota.

This might also be the case. They might have screen the application up to 20 May. That's why its a sudden jump. 500 per in just 6 days is extremely odd.
But who knows.

That is correct. How on earth can Canada find even 1000 University Professors willing to go to Canada in an year, forget about Sonographers. ;)

On the other hand, for IT, even a subcap of 25,000 will be filled. :P
