There is no hard an fast rule. In most cases, they do nothing.

If they suspect something wrong, they do call, email, and even send people to talk and see the premise of the office.

Normal. I was told that I will get passports within 20 days, but I did not get any news for 30 days. Visited RPO on 31st day and got passports in hand on 34th day.

i have another question: i'm from china, i had been administrative detention for the reason of purchasing fireworks in Jan 2013, i planned to use them in my wedding ceremony. i know it's not criminal, coz i got a non criminal record from local police along with my application. i'm still wondering if CIO is gonna reject my app based on security reasons? can anyone tell me please, thank you so much!!

Think this way that probably Canada needs more of people like you, who intend to celebrate Canada Day with fireworks.

Other than that, if your PCC is clean, you can write the same explanation under those questions in the Background declaration form.
