No brother because I don't PMed my e-mail to him yet and I think he actually already written the relevant content to us.

If you still think we can find something out of his letter, pls do tell me. I will PMed him the request and if he permit, I will share the content.

The post was too vague to begin with. We really need to see the letter in order to make assumptions. For now, I guess the JDs he/she submitted was not sufficient. Just my take. :)
bro, my belief is that the JD sufficiency is checked at the time of giving PER. CC is charged after form completeness check...for this case the CC is not charged... correct me if i'm wrong..

@Oscar7

Sorry I meant to say my current job as Executive Director of a non profit correlates to 0124. As 0114 is more on the technical side or towards the HR side.
Yes I have checked the JD for 1123 and 0124 and both these codes are related to my job duties in past and for the current job.

I worked as marketing coordinator in a pharmaceutical company for 1.3 years and as senior officer alumni relations for 1.9 years in an educational institute. Alumni relations falls 50% under public relations 50% under marketing and both of them are covered under 1123.

Hi All,

What is the total number of years or experience that you have?
I have some confusion again. I sent an email to noc-cnp @ workingincanada.gc.ca to ask for relevant NOC code in which i should apply. Although I considered myself to be under NOC 1123 Professional occupations in advertising, marketing and public relations but the email response I got is for the following codes:

NOC code 0114 Other administrative services managers (business manager – non-profit organization &
NOC code 0124 - Advertising, marketing and public relations managers

My request to you is to look carefully for differences between 1123 and 0124. Have you tried doing that yet? Your post is silent on this, so I ask.
Why I considered 1123?

Because I have worked as Marketing Coordinator for 1 year 3 months and worked as Senior Office Alumni Relations for 1 year 9 months. Both jobs falls under 1123 and matches almost 90% of the JD given in NOC 2011 Guide.

Was your designation Marketing Coordinator? And Senior Office Alumni Relations respectively? Even the latter sounds more like a non-profit category work than a work of marketing (basis the title shared). However devil is in the detail so look carefully at the duties match / mismatch with these two NOCs.

Now I am working as Executive Director of a Non-Profit Organization (in which I am a single employee taking care of all operations of the company internally and externally). I have so far worked for 1 year 7 months in this company. If I consider this job as my primary category then NOC 0114 might be suitable.

What I assume from cic reply is they have suggested me these codes considering my current job as the primary category. That assumption could be incorrect as they very well know their suggestion cannot be based on current work only, but one can pick any work done in last 10 years. Most likely their suggestion could be based on details of your profile.

My question is, is it necessary to apply with the designation in which you are working currently? Or you can select any relevant job from your previous 10 years. Also If I will apply with 0114 can they reject my application on the basis that my previous jobs does not fall under the same code. Not necessary and these guys who suggested you the NOCs already know this very well. BTW, NOC 0114 is not an open category for FSW 2014.
How my total experience will be counted? Will it be counted for only 0114 or for all NOC codes which are relevant? Don't know.

I feel I am more safe in applying under 1123 than 0114. Any suggestions from experts on the forum? Clearly, they have suggested the opposite so introspect the differences between 0114 and 1123 more carefully to find an answer please!

Hello Oscar,

I think you have made very relevant points.

My cousin went via FSW 2013 this year to Canada. She said only reference letters are required, and the appointment letters, pay slips, business cards "might be" required at a later stage.

I personally did not send any extra documents. I just sent the reference letters, and it had full time written on it, salary was mentioned, and no. of hours was also mentioned. i am still waiting for the PER email.

With regard to the duties, I believe the letter mentioned them clearly( I have applied in the 0911 Manufacturing Manager category on 07-05-2014). Hope it passes the assessment stage.

The point I want to make is that, with my sister's successful experience, can it be ascertained that only reference letters form the crux of the work experience story provided they have all the details, and do the other supporting documents really add any value at the assessment stage at CIO.

Hope our beloved members are able to help Gurjeet pass this phase !!

Regards...

[size=9pt] Dear Gurjeet, In order to be able to help, please share more about your case / work experience till date, specifically:

1. Were all your 4 years and 9 months on NOC 2174 with the same company or with different ones?
2. Did you include job offer letter(s) with the application? If yes, does it say anywhere 'full-time' or 'x number of hours per week / month etc.'?
3. What other job experience supporting documents did you include e.g. pay slips, business card of signing authority, tax documents etc. to name a few?
4. Were all your reference letters on company letter head, and signed by HR?

So far I am not very convinced with the content of the reference letter vis-à-vis what is stated in the NOC guide. I would not rush to conclude that the return is because of the word 'full-time' not captured. Your JD is more like 'this is what I do' rather than what the NOC guide asks for at a much higher / generic level. Just some thoughts upfront, though too early to conclude yet, without answers to above questions. Cheers!

PS - The above are basic factual information that one is expected to share when asking for help, to decipher an issue (i.e. sufficient background). I am very surprised by the lack of clarity offered. ::)

Sending all docs is good. if they ask you to submit at later stage , your application processing time likely to increase by 120 days.

Here you go. Pls right click on the below image and select "Open Image in new tab".
Rejection letter of GTiwana

In the letter, it is mentioned reasons attached in Appendix and/or checklist-still did not get it.

However, going through the letter, it appears, CIO not happy with the contents. To me, it's combination of role mismatches and not identifying continuous full time job to his intended job.

I worked as marketing coordinator in a pharmaceutical company for 1.3 years and as senior officer alumni relations for 1.9 years in an educational institute. Alumni relations falls 50% under public relations 50% under marketing and both of them are covered under 1123.

May I ask how long ago were these jobs?

Marketing Coordinator - Nov 2009 to Feb 2011
Alumni Relations - March 2011 to Dec 2012
Executive Director Non Profit - Jan 2013 to Date
Rest of my jobs are not relevant to the applicable NOCs which accounts for rest of the working years

With overall 9 years of work experience they might consider better fitment with 0124 since that too accommodates 50% public relations and 50% marketing.

Yes you are right. My existing job also involves 50% marketing and 50% public relations. Although my job role is managerial as you said below but as it is a non profit with only 1 employee working for them and looking after Finances, marketing, planning, public relations and all other domains, I don't have any staff working under me (except various outsourced vendors and volunteers as an when required)

The primary difference between 1123 and 0124 is the former is a specialist role while the latter is a managerial role. Let me ask you this - and please answer honestly - do you see your profile more as a managerial / management type or rather as a professional / consultant? I'd say if you continued work in marketing as your career progressed it could be seen as specialist / professional / consultant but the overall profile seems much suited to a managerial / management profile to them, hence their judgment for 0124 rather than 1123. And the 9 years total experience also makes it more inclined towards the managerial side in your case.

:) :) I am understanding what you are trying to explain to me. But I considered 1123 because the JD mentioned under that category was very much same to my 2 roles in my previous jobs and everyone on the forum emphasize that JD should match 70% to 80% in the reference letters. Moreover, no one is 100% sure if we get points for all relevant NOCs or for only the primary NOC, so If I consider my current job I get only 1.7 years and if I consider my 2 previous jobs I get 3 years hence few more points.

Now I am confused with the code selection :( :( :( :(

Saira,

Do you think that CIC knows about the above? If not, then no point sharing with us either as it is not able to affect their judgment. I hope you understand the point I am trying to make. Smiley

[size=9pt] Haha, alright now that I am beginning to make sense to you let me be more open about what I see in your case. :)

It is your turn to tell us, what would you have done if NOC 0124 was also one of the open NOCs this year.

You can send sealed envelope to WES that contains Transcript and Mark Sheets.

Even i have received the attested Transcripts and MarkSheets in sealed envelope, i did send photocopies of all final or provisional degree certificates, marksheets along with the sealed envelope to avoid any delay.
I hope that helps.
I received the transcript and the academic certificate in sealed envelop from the university I added copy of my passport and copy of WES REF. Number, then I sent them all to WES on 05/07/2014 I received WES Cerificate on 19/07/2014 ( I didn't attache any copy of the transcript and the academic certificate) and there was no delay at all.
