Hello xxxx xxxx,

The following is the response to your request for assistance (reference #0000000 ):

Based on the information that you have provided, the following National Occupational Classification (NOC) code may be appropriate for the occupation that you described. Please verify the link below to ensure that the education, main duties and employment requirements correspond to your occupation. You are in a better position to determine whether or not this NOC code reflects your job.

NOC Code: 0121 - Insurance, real estate and financial brokerage managers
http://www5.hrsdc.gc.ca/NOC/English/NOC/2011/ProfileQuickSearch.aspx?val=0&val1=0121

The National Occupational Classification (NOC) codes are determined by the Skill Type and Skill Level. The Skill Type represents the type of work performed as well as the general industry of employment, in order to easily indicate the segment of the world of work. The Skill Level represents the education required to perform the work. However, the NOC does recognize the fact that most jobs require multitasking or performing more than one duty. As a result there is a 51% rule that can be used as a guideline. Simply put, 51% of the job functions must be contained in the main duties of the selected NOC description.

The final decision for selecting the most appropriate National Occupational Classification (NOC) code is each individual's responsibility as you know your education, skills and abilities better than anyone else.
However, the ultimate decision remains the responsibility of Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) as they are the only ones who have the authority to determine if the information provided meets their criteria.

Thank you,

If their judgment is correct and your job duties fall under 0121, you are at least in an eligible NOC. Then the question becomes whether you fulfill all the minimum requirements and will score enough points to make the pass mark. You can evaluate yourself and read more about the requirements here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/guides/EG7TOC.asp

Good luck.

Hello senior and new members to this forum,

I am new to this forum. I am really in tense situation so that's why seeking your opinion guys. I had applied under 2171 code as Systems Analyst in this year fsw program and my file reached at CIO on 23rd June. I thought I am falling under 2171 noc code as Systems Analyst but now, I want to make sure whether my chosen NOC is correct or not? My day to day job duties and responsibilities are as follows:

1. Installed and supported applications on Windows, Fedora/Debian Linux servers.

2. Managed Windows network, Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, SQL, Fedora/Debian Linux, File sharing, Group policies, Print sharing and their interfaces for the systems.

3. Maintenance of the systems including latest antivirus updating involved in asset-tracking PC and security standards throughout the company.

4. Installation, configuration and administration on high end CISCO routers and switches.

5. Installation, configuration and administration of VPN's and Lease lines.

6. Installation of security patches and bug fixes.

7. Systems health checks for all security devices.

8. Having vast knowledge of spyware, content filtering, spam guard, POP blocker.

9. Handling of major security incidences and identifying the root causes.

10. Configuring Routing Protocols, ACL, NAT ( static and dynamic), PAT.

11. Maintaining and administering LAN network and it's interconnection with WAN.

Please let me know whether these duties are falling under 2171 NOC code or not. If this is not the correct code then which NOC code belongs to these responsibilities. These are closely matching with 2281, is it the right code?
Can I reapply with new NOC code with same job duties?
or do I need to wait to get NER and get back all my documents from CIO with UCI code?
Or CIO won't send me back my file?
What should I do to get rid of this problem? Your help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes indeed 2281 seems to be the correct NOC.

Yes you may reapply into a different NOC if you deem that your chances are very bad. CIO will send your file back but you can imagine it will take up to 2 months atleast before they even open it so it will be a while before you get it back.

The decision is YOURS but you may make another application package for NOC 2281 and mail it in.

Send your NOC code with your educational qaualifications and JD to the following

noc-cnp@workingincanada.gc.ca

they will help you with the right NOC...

So can I apply before getting any NER mail from them? Are you sure it won't be a problem to reapply with new NOC code? Now I want to take right decision this time. Do I need to wait for UCI number to apply again? Do u think CIO will invalid both of my applications because of second application submission? Plz help me out.

There are applicants here who were in a lot of doubt and decided to send in two applications with different NOC's. The key thing is there is a certain cost involved here, that you should be willing to bear.

They might just end up processing both your apps and asking you later on to drop one.

Please remember UCI is never a requirement (i.e. mandatory to be filled).

There has been a suggestion from @haraka007 which I would do too, while I prepare my second app. Here are the instructions http://www.fsw2014.info/match-your-noc/

These guys reply in like 4-5 days.

Not very sure. Probability is going down as days passed. Who cares? At least you got the Nova Scotia nomination. ;D ;D
