Partially agree to that.... but don't forget, it is the "CANADA POST" (aka.. 'snail mail') which worked in his favor this time.
CIO does return the (-ve) Appln as soon as they complete their review/ assessment.

btw, do yo know what is date on his rejection letter from CIO ?

Good question, mate!! No, his is India address and came by snail mail and probably might have been reviewed 15 or so days ago. Was lucky that within his application received date he probably was among the first few to get his application reviewed by CIC folks.

From what I understand time taken for return application is a factor of when one sends the application and when it gets open for review (especially when it has come within the period of cap still open). Only after review they send back for rejections. Since mk's application was received on May 7th (or was it earlier than that?) it was fairly ahead in the queue of 2014 applications and got reviewed quickly and returned promptly as well!

It is another matter that for applications received post cap closure they might on purpose sit on the applications for ages to return after 4 or 5 months thinking there is no benefit in returning quickly so might as well do other things that are more important for them!!!

That's my logic, feel free to share if anyone has any other view. Cheers!!!!

BUTT... NO response guaranteed earlier than 8 to 10 weeks from your submission date. 8)

Should 7 May applicants, especially the ones that have sent using DD start calling CIC...

I sent out my documents yesterday through UPS, but they couldn't add the whole address as requested because of space limitations, this is how they fit it in:

Also in the panic to send, I didn't write my name and address on the inner envelope (although the TO address in the inner envelope is 100% correct).

You check your old UCI number in the UCI section of the Generic Application Form, from the returned package. It is an 8 digit number (all numbers, no alphabets), and can be written anywhere on that page with pen / pencil etc.!
