FSW is first come first serve, EOI is based on demand.

So, if u r highly qualified and in high demand, then EOI may suite u better. But anyways, its going to start in Jan 2015 by which time most of the FSW 2014 applications will be processed.
Secondly, to be in first few applicants for EOI, ur prep for FSW will not go wasted.

You can read abt EOI on CIC website (mainly news section) for better analysis based on ur situation.

Thanks dude, I am applying under NOC 1111 ..... is it in high demand?

My passport mentions complete name "FIRST_NAME SINGH" under "Given name". Surname is blank on passport. So, in which format should I fill the form now? :-\ :'( ???

Thats what is been said to you.... if Surname is blank in the passport then in the form Last Name should be "N/A" OR "Not Applicable"

whats meant by " IELTS request sent with aplication"...my husband has to give ielts and i want to apply before his result arrives. is it possible that i send his IELTS later?

If you being a principal applicant can make 67 points without sending his IELTS then go ahead and send your application.
Otherwise, wait to get his IELTS report and attached and then send across.

Well on my passport, complete name is written under given name, while surname is blank.

Also, I checked my student visa application form. On that form, my name was split into given & family name parts. So, officially confused which format to use now.

I had the same problem, since I had already a Visa issued by splitting my name as firstname and lastname, I mentioned the UCI and split the firstname and lastname as was provided in the visa

I guess at this point of time in application we should look for Passport rather than any other visa stamped on it. Because they will verify generic form with the passport details. If they separate it later thats all good at their end but we should be safe by giving info from passport for now.

@maha shahzad

No, applications are usually returned for this reason. It all depends on VO/CIC reviewer, in very rare cases if he is very very very generous may accept IELTS after submission of application. Don't take risk. If you dont meet threshold of 67, try IDP (Autralian) for earlier IELTS date.
If you meet the threshold, send the applicationwithout it and write NO in spouse language proficiency.

I guess earlier, as application processing was taking longer, CIC used to ask for fresh IELTS.

Dont worry!!!! If that was your canadian visa then they may check it with your UCI number so just chill.
Things will be all right.. :)

Both of you have a valid point. But I also have a UCI number, that means they already have my info (with split name) in their system? So, is it possible that submitting name in different format could cause issue?
Any way to contact CIC to confirm this officially? Don't want to get screwed over because of this small oversight on my part.
