It is mentioned in the guide:

"Certified true copies

To have a photocopy of a document certified, an authorized person must compare the original document to the photocopy and must print the following on the photocopy:
•“I certify that this is a true copy of the original document”,
•the name of the original document,
•the date of the certification,
•his or her name,
•his or her official position or title, and
•his or her signature.

Who can certify copies?

Persons authorized to certify copies include the following:

In Canada:
•a commissioner of oaths
•a notary public
•a justice of the peace

Outside Canada:
•a judge
•a magistrate
•a notary public
•an officer of a court of justice
•a commissioner authorized to administer oaths in the country in which the person is living

Family members may not certify copies of your documents."

Please do not confuse forum members. This is with regards to certified true copies if are required. Not for all photocopies.
I have applied last year and photocopy was not an issue, although my file got returned because of cap reached.

Although if one wants to notarize photocopies it's perfectly fine

I also used UPS services after comparing it with FEDEX. My application was delivered on 1st May whereas Fedex was showing as tentative on 2nd May. One day saved could matter.

UPS is definitely faster from India, not sure about other countries.

I have stapled my documents to make them more sorted out. Don't think that would make a difference.

Do not stapled it!

Stapling is not an issue. If one wants can staple it. Although it is advisable to use clips.

1) Do I need to send Proof of Funds along with my application? (money should be in the account for how long?)

2) Can proof of funds be on wife's account?

3) On my wife's card, her sur name is her father's name, and after marriage the name has changed, would it make any problem?

it is! Check this out:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5612E.pdf

Check the first part it states there:

Gather all your documents in the order of the checklist, and check each item. Attach small photos and certified cheques with paper clip. otherwise leave documents unbound.

:P

1. Yes, atleast six months.
2. Nope, if the wife is the principal applicant then my answer would be yes.
3. Definitely will cause you a problem

If you have any other post secondary credentials like diploma along with engineering degree the points = 22

If only one degree (3 or more year) points =21

Hope this helps

Hi All,

Also i believe and strongly suggest it is good to have all ...i mean each and every single document which we are submitting to CIC to be scanned. It will be handy for feature reference or whenever needed since we can just provide anyone the copy whenever asked for.

All the Best FSW 2014 :)

*I did not read it anywhere not no one told me this is mandatory. This is just my suggestion to be on safer and comfortable side.

Dude when I say it's not an issue means it won't matter. I applied last year and even this year have stapled the docs. It is not a selection critical criteria.

I have already said that it's advisable to use clips.
