Dears,
I sent my application 10 days ago and it was received in CIO. I have a 4-month-old daughter. Unfortunately, I didn't notice the change whether to choose type 1 or A dependent for your child in the Generic form. As regarding the new updates mentioned at the guide for those who apply for immigration after 1st August, they should choose type 1 not A as I chose . I want to ask will this cause any problems to the process of my application. I know that it should a minor problem really but I don't know how the things are going there.

Good to see things are going well on this forum. Wanted to alert you on a bogus call I received.

I received a call from 8882422100 number today. The person said he was from CIC department and wanted to verify my information. He already had my name, email ID, phone number and asked if I was already in Canada or planning to move there soon. He did not know that my PR has already been processed and inquired if I received any recent communication from CIC. I was suspicious and asked him to confirm my UCI number to assure me if he was really from CIC at which he disconnected the call.

I googled this number and found it to be a bogus call. These people claim to be from CIC and ask to deposit some fees in the name of CIC. Beware of such calls or emails.

1-888-242‑2100 is CIC call centre number (http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/contacts/call.asp) but I guess you are right it seemed like bogus call. Caller ID could be spoof but how come someone knew that much detail? Did you share your forms with someone? Agent or friend. Could be some black sheep in CIC or courier company employee(s)?

I have got an additional reference letter (there is an old one from HR) without letterhead, signed form a senior engineer in my company, that states in more details my job description, but he does not have a business card to attach with it, could I only send a cover letter with his communication information, or office phone number?

October 10, 2014— Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) is warning individuals of fraudulent telephone calls in which the caller identifies themselves as a CIC officer calling to collect additional personal information or asking that a fine be paid to avoid deportation.

Be aware: CIC does not contact individuals for the purpose of collecting fines or personal information to avoid deportation and NEVER asks the public to make a payment over the telephone.

Anyone who receives a suspicious call should hang up immediately and contact their local police, and report the incident to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501 or http://www.antifraudcentre.ca or by email at info @ antifraudcentre.ca.

Unfortunately, sometimes they DO keep it pending for more than a year. They will simply ask for another medical exam.
