I think this PCC was valid for 3 months. Forumities please confirm if anyone knows the exact validity.

PCC is valid for one year but must not taken 3 months in advance from the date of application.

Pankaj, the only possible reason according to me is that they dont respond to applicants if the standard 8-10 week time frame has not elapsed. By the way, I mailed CIC on 26th Sep, so I am within the 30 day ETA...So lets see if I get a response next week..

I know LVO doesn't send AOR but I need to know approximately when will my file reach there because I need to send updated background info form. So generally from experience of other VOs, can anyone suggest after PER how long it takes to receive AOR?

My dear brother Century,

Although I did not show PF as part of my settlement funds, I wanted to check with you about this. As per the advice from my immigration consultant, I was told that it is better not to show Provident Fund in the asset list due to the following reasons:

1. PF is not a liquid instrument or a readily-liquefiable instrument like Mutual Fund/ Stocks, etc
2. PF can only be withdrawn post resignation from current job. Once a person resigns from the job, he/she has to wait 60 days after which only he/she can submit the PF withdrawal request to the regional PF office. After scrutiny & approval of the withdrawal request, the money (post-tax, of course) reaches the requester's account after another 45-60 days

This post is just to help fellow people who are trying hard to get the PCC done from India as well as from US.

Note - I am yet to get the PCC from India as well as US but here I am just trying to list down the process.

India PCC -
Passport Office - Pune, PSK Mundhwa (Mundhwa is the area where PSK is)
Passport - Issued in Punjab
Address - Staying on Rent in Pune

Process:
1) Go to PSK website, login and fill the for PCC.
2) Once you confirm it asks you for date selection and to pay the fees.
3) Before you select the date and pay the fees there is a option to save and print.
4) Print the application.
5) Reach PSK by or before 9 AM.
6) Bring Along your original Passport, Original Residence Proof, 500 Rupees per head, If married bring along original Marriage Certificate.
7) IMPORTANT - Original Documents are required I had to visit them twice just because I could not get my hands to my original Rent Agreement.
8) In Pune PSK there are 3 counters after you are given a token.
9) Just after entering they will check your documents, and give you a token number and will guide you to the waiting area.
10) Before entering waiting area there is a scanner that scans the token printed on paper, make sure you scan the paper before waiting in the area.
11) Counter A - They will go through your original documents, take a photograph , fees.
12) Counter B - They will again go through your original documents ( dont know why) and send you to Counter number C.
13) Counter C - After again going through your original documents , they will keep the file and ask you to leave via exit counter.
14) Exit counter will have your file number which can be tracked from PSK website.
15) The application will be sent to the Commissioner office who will forward the application to the local Police station.
16) This process is supposed to take 21 days officially.( I am in this stage waiting for the policemen from my local PS to visit)

Important Points to consider-
1) Dont go empty stomach.
2) Bring everything Original
3) If possible bring Registered Rent Agreement , if not a gas copy or the nationalized bank pass book with the current address will work.
4) Pvt Companies letter wont be accepted.
5) The Process for people whose address matches between passport and current address might get their PCC immediately.

US PCC - Pune Commissioner Office
1) Download the forms from the FBI website.
2) FD258, Credit Card Information, Checklist Document.
3) Fill in the FD 258 form manually and other forms can be typed in.
4) Visit the Commissioner Office near Railway Station Pune.
5) When you enter there is a office on the left side of fingeprinting experts.
6) Make sure you bring along the passport photocopy, rent agreement photocopy and a letter in favor of ACP , Crime Branch requesting for issuance of Fingerprinting services.
7) The person incharge will send you to the ACP Office and will ask you to get it signed from the Officer.
8) Once you get the approval from Office you need to bring back all the documents to Fingerprinting office.
9) The person who is supposed to do the fingerprinting will do it and give you a receipt of 500 rupees. 500 Rupees is the official fees.
10) He will get the fingerprints on 2 FD258 Forms (make sure you carry 2 forms duly filled).May be more in case there is a mistake on the form.
11) One copy of FD258 form remains with the Local Commissioner Office. The other copy will be handed over to you.
12) Make sure the forms are stamped by him, in general I found him a very professional and he made sure everything was done accurately.
12) Courier the package along with the checklist to the FBI office , address given on website.
13) If possible scan your application along with FD forms after the fingerprints are taken for your own justification to the VO.
14) Wait for the courier to be delivered to FBI office and keep the copy of the tracking history as well.
