LOL I have been so regular at the SP office now 8) that I didn't pay any bribe there:
Last year I took with me a junior from my team who was once recruited as a trainee of something in the police and he has a few known / relatives in police across the state. With him I learned the process and got PCC last year from SP Office, so this year did the pCC all by self.
The high level process steps are:
1- Go to SP Office (can ask this guy his cell # if you are smart enough to befriend him
)and fill the application etc. and they will note the initiation of process in their register
2- They will give a fee payment form to pay fee at a nationalized bank, usually SBI branch locally
3- After the INR 50 fees is paid submit the complete application form (and copy of fee payment form) at SP Office
4- From here the form will go to the local police station of the area
5 - Ideally the local police station guy should come for verification at home - but better you go and meet them at the police station itself and yes here I paid like INR 300 to 'expedite' my case (again also took his cell #)
6- Once this 'expediting amount' is paid they immediately okay it and send to LIU (Local Intelligence Unit) of the district
7- At LIU they cross-verify with their database and quickly send to SP Office in case there is no issue on the applicant's background - no need to follow up here
8- By about 25 to 35 days the entire process is complete and this year I have phone #s of the guys at SP Office so I called them and confirmed that my PCC is ready before going to collect it.
This is the high level process if going by SP office in India (in a non-metro like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai etc.), but could slightly vary by districts across India is my take. Cheers!
