Hii all,

I am finding it very difficult to get the reference letter from my current employer where i am working since last 4 months, my direct manager is telling that they will issue these sought of letters only after completing one year employement period. However i got the ref letter from my old employer where i worked for 3 yrs 4 months. Could any one please let me know if there will be any negative effect on my application that if i dint submit the reference letter of current employment. I can instead submit contract letter, and visa copy. Please note that With previous company experience of three plus years i am getting the required points.

Here's what to do.
Write your own reference letter stating all the necessary points required in a standard CIC reference letter. In your introduction, state the reasons why you couldn't get one from your employer.
That's exactly what I did. Out of my 10yrs experience claimed, I got reference letter for only the 1st 3yrs; my previous employer. My current employer (7yrs running) refused to give me reference letter due to changes in company policy.
But remember to include your employment (or assignment) letter, pay slips (or bank statements showing regular salary payments), or any other document that links to your current employment.
You will sail through...

Yeah..even I am not sure of BOA, but if you call them - they may have a way to override exceptions...This Chase card they boast all about No international fee...blah blah...so I gave it a shot and glad it worked Thanks though when you're planning to apply?

Thanks! I think I should call up BOFA and inform them in advance about transaction in Canada. I am worried their automated fraud check system might block the transaction. Hence I was thinking of using Indian card, since their fraud detection systems suck

Which CC did you use? Indian or Canadian? If Indian, then which bank and did you tell your bank that your card will be charged so much amount in the future?

I am contemplating if I should give my Indian (HDFC bank) or US (Bank of america) card. Any suggestions?

I don't exactly know what is the difference between the Indian one and the Canadian one. I used my European one I didn't informed the bank about anything since the limit was OK.

The difference as I mentioned in another post is their fraud detection / prevention systems. Even if a transaction is within the limit, they stop it in case the transaction takes place in another country.

For example, if I swipe the card for lunch in Mumbai today, and after 1 hour it shows a charge from Canada, then sometimes the bank restricts the transaction thinking it is some fraudster who has my card number with him.

Maybe the Canadian embassy is in their "good" books and they don't stop that charge.

I got delayed with some documentation here - transcripts from engg. university, to be precise. Now I'm waiting for my WES report, and it should be around Oct 1st week that I'll apply. I'm applying for NOC 2171, and having fingers crossed

Note that this year due to larger cap and many eligible NOCs, the number of forumites have gone up substantially and so does the number of posts. As it will be difficult for admin to track all the update from this large volume of posting, self-update mechanism strategy has been taken to reduce load on them.

So, we seek everybody's cooperation to update the sheet him/herself.

This sounds confusing - so have you updated that record or not?

If you meant to say that even though you have updated other entries previously you ask the member to do it this time on their own, you should write something like "Though I updated other entries previously, please update your record this time yourself"

Btw, I noticed that many members that reported updates here over the last few days, have not updated the records by themselves - most likely because they thought that admins still handle it. In many cases, people just come back to report their update and leave again so they do not notice requests to update things themselves or how to do it. Any volunteer helping to keep the ss updated, is most welcome
