But when it comes to how a human mind works let me share an example.
After staying in US for 2 years (having lived in India all my life prior to that), I visited a relative in UK. The first thing that I noticed was gas (aka petrol) price which was about 2.5 to 3 times more in the UK. I also felt the roads in UK to be much narrower than their counterparts in the US. And I shrugged in disbelief (which now I find funny, since I had lived most of life in India but I guess just got accustomed to seeing US roads in the last 2 years)!
Next I also noticed my uncle's reaction (which was sort of wow!) when he heard what a person was getting paid in the US after grad school which was about US$ 60-65K versus what my cousin was getting paid there after his master's (UK £ 35-38K). Then the price of a car, if it was USD 26K in USA the same would cost UKP 26K here; and if a lip balm costs USD 1 there it would cost UKP 1 here. Cost of living would also either compare similarly in both countries or UK would be a little expensive at times, if one were to compare the cost of living especially in London.
From that day till now my mind just can't accept UK as a 'better' place for some reason. I guess some of the things my friend shared, who moved from US to UK (or rather had to move), also didn't make the comparison any better in my mind like higher tax rates, lower quality of life, higher unnecessary government spending in UK on benefits to the under-privileged (i.e. providing bigger homes for people with bigger families who can't afford it etc.) May be some of these facts are distorted / out of context but I am just sharing my view. Hopefully I don't offend anyone (especially from UK)! ???
PS - I am sure cost of living in Canada (as well as property prices) should be quite favorable in comparison to that in London. In every place good school districts are more expensive though!
PPS - Government cost pressures also come in developed countries due to benefits the government has to provide to its aging population. I hope with so much immigration in Canada their population might still be a mix of a lot of the younger lots. I am not an economist by any means though!

Oscar7 said:Hi, let me ask you this. If you are a scholar funded by govt. of India, aren't you supposed to / mandated to go back to India after the Ph.D. as per the terms of your scholarship?
Have you entered your details on the spreadsheet?arash1718 said:Does anybody knows how long it approximately takes after sending the medical to get the pass request?

All the best to everyone!!
I applied last yr but file was returned due to cap. Meanwhile I got this fellowship and jumped to PhD. I have the letters from DST. should i show it to NDVO if i am asked later reason of bulk transactions as they send it for 3 months, sometimes 4 months and sometyms 12 months too.... Big amounts.Oscar7 said:Oh ok, you are in India. Got it! Wow lucky you, you get this scholarship from the government of India and then you plan to fly out the very first opportunity you get to settle else where. Quite interesting!!! These are exactly the kind of changes the govt. needs to make in the terms and conditions of such scholarships that are given for free!!
My guess is your source of funds will definitely be open to higher scrutiny by CIC since bulk amounts are getting transferred abruptly rather than a regular monthly source of income.
What I understand, your settlement fund is X amount and your fellowship bulk amount is Y amount. Your bank statement shows X+Y amount.ruby_fsw said:hello oscar...... i had earlier posted to seniors to plz send me the link to put up my entry to the spreadsheet. and i asked a question too. Congrats for MR. Is your VO CPC-O ?Can you please enter your timeline on Spreadsheet 2014? It might not help you but it surely help others including me. It usually takes 2 weeks to 3 months to receive PPR from MR Received status on e-cas and RPRF acknowledged by CIC(Sometimes they don't acknowledge it). Depends there is no fix timeline for PPR.arash1718 said:Does anybody knows how long it approximately takes after sending the medical to get the pass request?

Sorry to say, but i think you are unnecessarily panicking.
-- you had sent the package on May 1 by Aus Post.. for which you don't know when it got delivered to CIO. Its universal truth that Departmental Posts take much longer to deliver internationally.... upto a few weeks. Assume, if you have Couriered it from Aus on May 1, it would take atleast 4-5 days to reach NS... and CIO is just processing May 5 Applicants as of now. .. so there''s still time for your Application to be picked up going by that assumption.
-- Regarding your add.. you filled the correct add (PO Box) which is as per the Guidelines for sending thru Regular Mail- put PO Box add.... so what makes you feel that it might be lost ?
-- Moreover, you have sent the Appln quite early (except for delays in Post).. you should be well within the Cap even for Hottest NOC in Canada !
If all goes well.. you will receive PER sooner or later, suggest you to hold on to your horses
Just wait for sometime for Aus Post to revert to you on your delivery status.
Good luck !
