Hi nskatcv

The form only allows you to enter months. So mine is from 07 2013 and to 07 2014 (although 8 days short of one year per my appointment letter).

Are you suggesting I put a future month - say 08 2014 ?? Is that possible ?
You can put any date that's BEFORE the application will be received by CIC. Also, the dates you enter for your employment will have to be confirmed by your employment reference letters. All I am suggesting you to do is send the application once you are sure there isn't any room for misunderstanding. Whatever lets you sleep at night!

Hi,

So you are saying that experience letter has actual 'day' also mentioned, that's how this exact months and days come about.

But when you have just to fill months in Q12 (07-13 to 07-14) itself is 12 months, isn't it ?

Regards
Correct. I joined on July 16th 2013. If i submit my application in the first week of July - lets say on the 7th of July 2014 then in the Schedule 3 form it comes up as 07-2013 to 07-2014 BUT its not exactly 1 year (which is only July 16th 2014).

Do you see my confusion :( ?

Namaste,

You are technically correct here, but if someone requests his reference letter today, and fills the application form let's say a month later. Can he not write the later date in those columns, if that month is crucial ? Because although the letter was generated a month earlier, the experience actually has grown by one more month.

It's all in the way one sees it.

But whichever way the applicant feels comfortable (as you said), should be the way to go.

Some are extra bold, some not so much, and some are very careful.

Regards

Hi Namaste

The starting date will be mentioned in my reference letter which is July 16th 2013 as I will continue to be an employee even after the reference letter has been provided to me or i have filed my application (if you see it that way).

Therefore the schedule 3 form will have from 07 2013 to 07 2014 which seems like 1 year to me but if you look at my starting date which is July 16th 2013 and assuming the date my application is received is July 11th 2014 is not exactly 1 Year by the dot.

So what do i do ?

Yes I see it. But does your reference letter also states an end-date ? Or is in present tense, that is, 'working with us...'

If so, I personally wouldn't mind checking out 1-2 yr box, given that it is a matter of days (probably just the transit time of application)

Rest is your call.

Unless somewhere it is written that job experience has to be counted exactly on the date of receipt of application, you will be fine. Otherwise, not.

My reference letter shall state - " is currently working with ABC LTD since July 16th 2013 as XYZ Designation .... "

The date when you sign your application will be considered as your current date for the purpose of counting time. So, what I would suggest is wait until July 16 (or sign the apps as July 16) and then send your application. That way you have at least one of the concerns covered. If possible, ask the reference letter also be signed on the same day but I would think that CIC would be slightly flexible with that since one has to get it in advance.

Also, since you are applying for 2281, I think delaying by a week will probably be fine.

Boy am I in a moral pickle now ::)

I would hate myself if these 10 days too soon or too late cost me the PR (although I would never accurately know that) :-[

Nishesh, I concur with Namaste.

I would say, go as per he said.

The declaration under the form, where you sign and date, shall be the date to be counted towards (calculating the past 10 years of experience).

Anyhow, if they look too closely, they will anyhow see your 4 years, and award you the deserving points.

I have to disagree. 1 day less than a year is still less than a year. So, no confusion there, especially since the reference letter will say when the position began.
