Hi friends,

It's been some time since my last status update. Good to see that lot of friends are going to soon join us in Canada. It is beautiful now a days here, with intermittent snow fall and festival mood.

We can say that we are now almost fully settled with both having regular jobs, having moved in a new house with new furniture put in and having our cars - the three major struggles of settling in Canada seems to be achieved now.

I am not writing this to boast about myself or anything, this is to boost confidence in friends who feel doubtful about settling process over here. I think the only people who have lived in countries like US and Australia will find this place a little bit lower to their expectations. Other than that its nice to be here. You got to embrace the short comings and learn to deal with the culture here.

Initial few months are slight stressful but every one gets past it.

All the best for friends who are in process of landing or getting their PR. Next year seems to be even better with minister announcing faster track (they do every year ) for processing apps.

i am 7 aug applicant received PER on 28 nov...
My concern is i am indian my visa office is NDVO.. can i change my visa office to CPC -OTTAWA as i am in USA on H1B visa valid for another 2 years
If yes where should i send email to intimate the same

After three weeks from now, send an email to NDVO explaining your situation. Be advised that they might reject your request and process your app in India.

In usa we are on HIB visa that not on green card dear ... for canada will be getting pr anytime time better then temporary work visa

Hi Lance,

My 2 cents about EE. I think it is a glorified work permit and that too very complicated. Instead, I would say, convert it into Work Permit, test the guy who comes and then issue PR after few years like other countries.

The basic disconnect is no one is clear as to what CIC wants. Is it the language? Canadian Exp? Job offer? PNP? If eliminating odd jobs is their priority, then why did they increase the over cap to 25000, knowing very well that people are ending up doing odd jobs.

I think it a simple attempt to copy and modify other systems, but seems to have failed miserably. The reasons being:

1. PNP and Arranged Employment will take lot of time. There are very less chances for people to get either and qualify for the so called Jan "Draw", will CIC still pick top guys and ask them to apply for PR? Not clear?
2. Is there any minimum cut off? No one knows
3. What is this strange rule about accompanying spouse? Are they suggesting one should bring them or should they drop them? What if the person goes along and brings their spouse in family class, will they still ask for what ever has been asked now?

Over all, it is a very poorly designed system. Unless, CIC is clear about how each qualifier is contributing to the objective of bettering their immigration, I don't think it is going to yield any results. My rating of this program is 1/5...

Thanks Santosh, job opportunities are there - it takes few weeks of rigorous efforts to get some calls. I am sure you will do fine on landing here. IT jobs are not as many as we have in US but still it's not that difficult to get it if you have skillset in kind of applications you have exp in.

I've sent my file and received on 22 October .. Unfortunately, I discovered by chance that in my Generic form I wrote my name as the following
Family name: my fourth name , as usual
Given names : I wrote my whole name including the fourth name again mistakenly despite that I used my first three names only in the other forms and in all other papers .
I don't know what to do!!! I think it is such a stupid big problem !!

Great points.
I imagined it would suck. But the Canadian Government sort of went beyond my wildest expectations. The only way I can see EE working is through nomination of Canadian Master's and PhD graduates since they are inland applicants and have local credentials and potentially a decent command of English. I don't believe in arranged employment from abroad though.

The international applicant must be so bankable that the company would invest for his/her immigration via EE. I'm not seeing this will work for the usual rank and file employees. Mostly top management people will succeed in this system.
