I am certain that your birth certificate will be returned 100%. They asked for originals of my wedding pictures and when they stamped our passports with visas, every single one of those photos was returned together in the same envelope with the passports. Another friend of mine who was asked to submitt his original offer letter and pay slips also got everything back intact with his VISA and COPR. So I dont think you should worry at all, your document should and will be returned to you in one piece. Congrats on your PPR!

Quick Tip for you folks heading to Canada soon to land your job as I did within 3 months

1) I presume you all have your credentials assessed, you need to include this with every job application you submit. This is how you can make the recruiters job easy that your educational experience is in line with what is attained here.

2) The term CV should be expunged. We use the terminology Resume's here. Format your resume in a chronological style (at least that worked for me). The wordings on your resume should be in 2nd persons' using actionable words like "Facilitated the audit of several accounts" with Facilitated here being the actionable word.

3) Highlight achievements in your previous job description using metrics to proof this e.g could be "Achieved and surpassed marketing targets by overturning a deficit which was in the department for months before I arrived by recording a 30% growth in sales within first month of assignment".

4) keep an excel spreadsheet of all the jobs you have applied for. The last thing you want is for a recruiter to call you on the phone making reference to a job you applied for. To leave a first impression, you've got to be able to recall on the call the job title, date applied for, job duties and why you were so keen to apply for it. If you haven't kept a log, you will fluff your lines and leave a negative impression on the recruiter.

5) Be prepared for a minimum (2) rounds of interview; could be by skpe, go-to meeting or citrix as your first interview over the PC. Yes do not be deterred from applying for jobs outside the province you are settled in. They are quite flexible with this approach as everyone knows Canada is a huge country.

6) Your LinkedIn profile should be formatted in a professional manner.

7) You should possess soft skills and try to soften your accent. They can be prejudicial if your accent is difficult to be understood.

8) A couple of sites to check for job ads which include: eluta.ca, linkedin job search, indeed.ca, Workopolis.ca, monster.ca. Also check the provincial and municipal websites for jobs placement ads.

9) Cover Letters are crucial. Read the job description and highlight in your cover letter previous experience you have that demonstrates you are a candidate for the job.

I came here to Edmonton, Alberta last year in November. I didn't a get until about second week in February though but within this interval from Nov-Feb, had about five interviews. God was faithful that even when I did eventually get a job, I quitted after a week as I got an even rewarding and high profile job within the provincial government. My wife was smarter than me; she landed a job within two weeks!

I have been very quiet but have gained a lot from this forum. More out of shyness.
First I will like to thank God for his faithfulness and for his goodness in all things. I will like to thank Pipi's husband for starting this forum and even though he has landed he is always here for all of us proffering advise.

Help me praise God for he is good to me and my family. our PPR dropped some few minutes ago. Wow! what a feeling. I pray for all those awaiting MR and PPR it will come sooner than expected IJN.

What has a beginning must surely have an end. Praise be to the Almighty God, PPR just landed.

I know it can be difficult when you see people who you did medicals earlier than receiving PPR mails before you but I can bet you everyone has a tale to tell in the PR race, Just borrow a leaf from Gentle Ace who equally has about the same timeline as your and received his PPR a few days ago and concentrate on getting yourself ready for the landing formalities for your case will surely end in praise also.

Congrats to everyone that has received.

While I am happy for everyone i am really worried that the delay for me is unbearable. i am 2014 set and medical has been done since July 2015. why no feedback till date.

The suspense is something else, but what can I do?

Got the DECISION MADE update on ECAS yesterday and few hours later, the pick-up email landed in my email box.

Hello good people,

To the glory of God our Father, the PPR mail dropped on Thursday. This platform really provided guidance and directions throughout the various stages. Although I have not been active on the blog, we want to say thank you to everyone for your selflessness.

Timeline: Application submitted in November 2014
PER- February 2014
Medicals- August
PPR March 2015


We urgently need your kind guidance on the under-listed issues as we were requested to update some forms (IMM5669; IMM5406)
1. My wife as the primary applicant changed her maiden name (which was on on the initial application/international passport submitted to AVO) to my surname (which now reflects on her new international passport). AVO was duly informed of these changes. Question: Are we to reflect the new name on the forms we were requested to update? Yes, since you have already pre-informed AVO about her status.

2. A section of the Background Declaration form (IMM) which requested to know if we were ever denied visiting visa to Canada or any country was misconstrued. Question: Should we update this section to reflect these additions without any negative implication. Yes, you should mention this error on the form IMM 5669E, and also attach a cover note stating your reasons for the omission. A lot of people Landed and with their Visas made the same mistake and corrected same error without any repercussion.

I have picked up our Visas +CoPR today from UPS. (our visas had been issued since the 23rd of Feb and got DM on 26th but we did not get pick up mail until 23rd March)

Neyobash, thanks for the help from UPS. Got VVIP service from the center here in Gbagada.

You can leave it blank nobody will penalize you for not filling it, it is actually better not to fill so that you do not make an error that will delay the issuance of your visas. I didn't fill them in anyway and I received my visas.

In the form sent to us from CIC for medical an individual UCI no was given to each family member, i will like to know if am to use the individual UCI no given to each family member or use the one for the principal applicant we used when sending additional documents for family addition.
