Hello Forumites, Congrats to every one who got positive responses from AVO.

I need your advice on an issue. I was at the last Eagles meeting and we talked about undertaking certifications such as Lean Six Sigma here in Naija before landing in Canada; however I spoke to two friends at different times in the past week and they both gave me the same answer. One got to Canada via FSW and the other via Education. They both advised that I do not bother doing any certifications here in Naija as it most likely will not be accepted even though it is was conducted by an International body. They say I have to do these certifications in Canada for it to count. One of the two friends of mine is an IT specialist. He got his Oracle Certification here before going to further his studies there, while there he got MCP (I hope thats the correct acronym) but on applying for a Job he was told that they could not accept this Oracle certification but the MCP was accepted. Please Landed seniors as well as others in this great family of ours kindly assist to clear the air on this issue as it has somewhat been bothering me even though they have assured me not to be.

Many thanks

Hi, the profile you get is based on the information you feed into the system so you should recheck what you entered/uploaded as you're the best person to tell what your details are.

hi PH,

thanks for your response.
i have reviewed my profile. it appears my IELTS score is below requirement:
Writing:6
Speaking: 8.5
Reading: 8
Listening: 9

when i changed the writing to 7, it said I was eligible. guess i have to rewrite IELTS.
i thought the 6 was minimum requirement.

Congrats to all the positive updates, i tap into your grace even as i commence the EE race.

Congratulations Bplastiq.

Hi Tehillah, please allow me to clarify that the position of your friends is not quite accurate. I have a colleague and friend now settled in Canada through FSW and he did his SAP, CBAP and PMP certifications all in Lagos. It is on the basis of these certifications he is a Senior Analyst with Oracle in Calgary today. Your friend's experience may be one off and certainly is not the norm. Go ahead and prepare yourself with the mind that your story will be different. I rest my case, all the best.

I absolutely second that! Please do as many as international certifications as you can here! Najia is a lot cheaper and international is international. You can do some refresher (short) courses over there if you like.

If you can get someexperience too thengood for you.

Hello Tehillah. I strongly believe that having your international certifications done here in Nigeria is easier and cheaper. With your certifications, you have a strong footing to get good jobs in Canada. It is surprising that your friend's Oracle certification was declined by the employer for a reason best known to the employer. I will advise that you do all the certifications you can do here in Nigeria before leaving for Canada as they would really help in settling down in good time. You cannot base your life on someone else's experience. Some of us did in the past and still regretting till today. Please go ahead and acquire all the certs you could. God bless you.

Please I need help in this. I would like to know what a person should do if he has already submitted a copy of his wife's international passport bearing her maiden surname and has gotten PER now changes his wife's surname on a new international passport. Thanks in advance for your advice.
