My dear forumites,
This is to inform you all that we (Child and I) landed in Canada at the Toronto Pearson airport at about 17:10 on thursday March 26, 2015. We traveled with Delta Airline through the US, while my wife did her landing via a US-Canada Border on Friday March 27, 2015 as she lives in Canada doing her postgraduate program.

As others have mentioned, the landing procedure was quick, smooth and fast. No request for PoF. The officer only asked to confirm how much we had in cash. I provided a list of accompanying goods (though just two items) on a form provided but was informed that it could be done later if I didnt have the information there. On food stuff items, we were only asked the type of food stuff which was majorly dried fish, beans and peanuts - wifeys request. This was marked in the form given onboard the plane.

We also got our Social Insurance Numbers (SINs) and have opened bank accounts for me and our child. Wifey already had hers. We spent the weekend visiting family and getting some items at our booked temporary accommodation. We will be following up on our health cards during the week, lease search and visiting the school already arranged for our child. I am already reading to take my driving licence test this week hopefully. We were informed that the PR cards will be ready in 6 weeks and I have put in place plans to have that sent to me since i will still be moving back and forth from my job in Nigeria for now till i finalize my move while my family settles in well in Canada.

I wish everyone the best in their applications.

Congratulations!

Congrats Pipis Husband!
I keep saying it - that this man does not know the MAGNITUDE of what he has done by starting this thread [at all] ... I am not even talking about the things he has been doing after starting the thread yet. General PH, I am confident that you will reap blessings beyond measure.

Some of us who did not use consultants/lawyers (and even those who used), did not know which way was Up until we joined this thread. We submitted our applications with faith and did not know what to expect. Some received PER and kept thinking "what next?" What if I made a mistake in my application? What if I missed out a document? What if I do not hear from CIC months on end? What if my family composition changes? What if I get married while waiting for CIC? What if I decide to wait for Express Entry (It seems like a faster and better option for me) .... we had lots of questions and concerns. After joining this thread everything seemed like it all became easy; like we had a clear map on our hands, ... better still like we had a solved maze (you know, with directional signs on it)!

Pipis Husband, on behalf of every member of this thread I want to say Thank You Sir!! - for those who have benefited immensely, those who have had the opportunity to lend a helping hand, those who were just observers but gained a lot of hope and confidence in their processes because of the reassurances they got on here and those who have been entertained just by visiting us daily (there are many in this category if you know your Set Theory) ;D

Please accept our hearty congratulations and gratitude for all you have done. We wish you and your entire family well in actualizing your Canadian dreams. God bless!
Peace - T_Rap.

Okay! back to my ranting ... Now those who have been crying about AVO being slow and pressing to get to the next stage or even wanting to complete the entire process in less than 6 months, you are now free to make all the noise you want! Now that the founder of the thread is done with the process ... go on! ... cry out!! :P :P
