So finally landed in Toronto and have completed all the processing for this immigration thingy by the grace of God Almighty. Landing process was very smooth and fast, probably due to the fact that our flight arrived YYZ at about 7:30pm Toronto time.

We went through Immigration and customs in about 45 minutes no much questions were asked outside requesting for your landing documents no POF, customs will just ask you to declare any amount above CAD$10,000, which is standard request at all entry and exit ports. Just make sure you have your goods to arrive and goods to follow list ready for customs, aside that you should have no problems. Will be going out tomorrow to register for SIN and get sim cards for our phones. See you all over here soon.

PH/ KSA0510 kindly update my status on the spreadsheet to the green line 8) 8) 8).

Amen!!!

Hi Geebee:

It's currently N153/CAD according to XE.com; sounds like you're good to go. Just be sure to get a proper bank statement on the bank's letterhead and all with sufficient evidence and explanation to show where the additional amount(s) came from. All will end well for sure :)

Hello house
I got a mail from AVO now saying I may not eligible bcos I do not av up to required amount of 18260 cad. It was not up to 18100 cad for a family of 3 when I submitted the application in November and I fixed 2.7mill naira. Please I would like to know the current forex for cad-naira bcos I increased the fixed deposit to 3 mill naira( as if I knew sometin like this would happen).

@ BabyBal: Cheers.....ouch!... too hot!!!

Congrats to us all!!! It has been a rather positively eventful week :)

Seniors in the house, I have a couple of questions:

  • 1. I have been invited for a meeting / conference in Toronto taking place in the last week of October; going by recent timelines, expectation is that AVO will request for our passports in September to issue visas in October. Our PRVs are likely to be valid until August 2016. But we all know these timelines are not really an exact science... Is it advisable for me to apply for a visitor visa now to enable me make it for the meeting in October?
  • 2. Our son currently has two names on his passport, and three names on his birth certificate. We would like to include his third name on his passport when it is time for renewal next year - his sister has her three names on her passport. (a) can this be done in Lagos? or requires a trip to Abuja? (b) would it be an issue if there is an extra name on his passport when we land vs the name on his visa / COPR?

Thank you very much in advance!

Please help !!!!! Please help!!!!!!

My file was received on 2nd oct my medical was on 17 may and they asked for landing fees at the same time .i haven't got PPR yet No decision made..............
can I withdraw my funds i really need some money almost half of it.....

well, if you ask me i will say it depends on what exactly you need the funds for and when you are likely to return it so when they ask you can include a detailed cover letter with proof showing reason for the outflow and inflow.

you cant put your life on stand still o. if it is very urgent and you are sure of getting the funds back within a short-while abeg fire on

Based on the current trend of AVO you will likely get your visa before October
As for your son passport why not leave it the way it is as you can only do it in Abuja. I have the same situation I used only my last name and first name on my international passport and my birth certificate had all three name, what I did was to do an affidavit that I'm the same person and newspaper publication and it is fine with CIC and AVO. To avoid unnecessary delay in your application go and do affidavit for your son. If you want a sample of the affidavit you can send me a pm and your email I will forward it to you.

It's better you get the funds you need from other sources e.g. family and friends till you are through with AVO; I'm sure you wouldn't want to do anything that will make you to running helter skelter if AVO should make a demand as they can demand for POF at any given time.

what if you don't get family member to give you the money(you know what it is like with borrowing huge amount of money in this country). If it is a business with proof and you are sure of getting the money back as quickly as possible, in my own opinion that will be fine but if it is not a business opportunity that will yield returns within 2weeks at most then it is better to look 4 other means
