My application date is May 13, 2013. My file was transferred to NDVO in Sept. and thats the last I heard from them. From past experience, you think I should email them and ask them for an update on my file? As I want to ensure that I havent missed any notification from them, if they sent any.....

dear they are processing files randomly,
i advise wait for a week or two
i was having the same fear of missing notifications but as they are sending mr mail for each applicatant (principal, spouse , child) so @ 2-3 mails we are receiving and its not possible to miss all
