enjoy holiday at canada for that period

I actually looked it up here - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp.. It looks like its gonna take upto 92 days to get the PR card, which is really too many days for me to be staying out on vacation leaving behind my research work!

Also, here - http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/pr-card/index.asp they mention as "If you are immigrating as a permanent resident, CIC will mail your card to you when you get to Canada. You do not need to apply for a card.". But doesn't really say if we are reqd to stay at the receiving address at the time of collecting, or if a friend/family can collect it on my behalf..

I have one more question.. Maybe someone who has recently landed in Canada could best answer this query -
we (my wife and me) are both, at present, doing my research work (PhD) in Germany. Last week our visas were stamped with visa and the validity is until March 2015. Therefore, we are planning on visiting Canada to finish off the landing formalities and then return back to Germany to resume our PhD. We are planning on moving to Canada for good in about 2+ years so that we could stay for about 750+ days (before our PR needs renewal, etc.,) as per the rule.
Now with that background, my exact query is - how long (approx number of days) would we need to stay in Canada for finishing all the landing formalities (for eg: PR card, etc.,)? We would like to return back to Germany as soon as possible, of course. I had gotten to know earlier that we need to just apply for the PR card and even have it delivered to a friend/relative in Canada in our absence (since the processing duration for PR card is about 45 days or so). Is this a possibility?

Other suggestions are welcome and any links from CIC in this regard would be very much appreciated too!!

I'm neither an expert nor landed yet. Here are my 2 cents to your question:

As per my knowledge and information from this forum, Landing formalities at the airport take at most 1 hour where they will help you apply PR card. You can provide Canadian address of your friend/family to receive the PR card which mat take more time than mentioned on CIC website so no need to stay in Canada till then if you cannot. Why to waste time and money just waiting for it. You also need to apply for SIN which is a walk-in task. You need to go to the service center and apply for it. They will give you you SIN (number) print out then and there. Here also, you can mention your friend/family address. In nutshell, if you land early on a working day, you PR formalities are done within a day unless you also want to get drivers license, health card, credit card etc. I would recommend, also visit a bank once you land and apply for a credit card, this will help you build your credit history. but again, how many days - ONE for PR and stuff+ days you want to take rest, go around. Good luck!

"We have received your application for permanent residence in Canada in the Quebec Business class on 04/29/2014 and have created a file with the file number indicated above. Note: The application received date is in mm/dd/yyyy format. Please quote this file number in all future correspondence with our office."

"PS: THIS IS A VALID COMPUTER GENERATED LETTER AND DOES NOT REQUIRE ANY SIGNATURE."

I applied under Federal Skilled Worker Class and received PER.

This is certainly a mistake by NDVO or CIC. Any of your guys experienced this? Any ideas on what I should do?

ECAS shows "In Progress" with the first line only "We received your app....".
