Well, to give everyone an idea, CIC received my application on May 13 (for NOC 2147). Today, September 26, I'm still waiting for AOR from the Visa Office. This immigration process is about as exciting as watching paint dry! And the Canada CIC site says nothing, except that my application was received on May 13. ;D

GREAT NEWS PEOPLE !!! PAFSO STRIKE ENDS !!!

http://www.pafso.com/news_releases.php?newsID=168

26 September 2013 - Canada's Foreign Service Officers Reach Tentative Agreement with Federal Government
The Professional Association of Foreign Service Officers is pleased to announce that a tentative agreement has been reached with the Treasury Board of Canada to end our six-month labour dispute.

“PAFSO is satisfied with this deal,” said PAFSO President Tim Edwards.“This agreement was reached through compromises on both sides,” continued Edwards. “We salute the spirit of constructive engagement which our employer brought to our latest discussions. This deal is a victory for free and fair bargaining in the federal public service.”

With the signing of this tentative agreement PAFSO has ordered an immediate suspension of all strike measures and work to rule. The agreement requires ratification by the PAFSO membership and approval by the full Treasury Board. PAFSO's Executive Committee and Treasury Board president Tony Clement have agreed to recommend acceptance of the offer.

“We are pleased that the Government has recognized the tremendous value and dedication which Foreign Service Officers provide to Canadians and their elected representatives,” said Edwards. “It has been a hard-fought battle and I would like to salute the unity, resolve, and stamina of our members in securing a fair and equitable deal. We're excited to get back to doing the work we love, promoting and protecting Canada's values and interests abroad.”

The 1,350 Foreign Service Officers have been without a contract since July 1, 2011 and in a legal strike position since April 2, 2013. This agreement concludes the longest federal public service strike since the introduction of collective bargaining in 1967.

it is taking more than 90 days for some applicants under 2134 to get their cc charged and get PER. I can't believe this.

Seniors/Forum Members,

I have few queries...if anyone have knowledge/experience with the same.

1) For how long the MR is valid for ? 1 year from issue of MR request?

2) Can you delay MR in case wife is pregnant - as you don't want to do an xray?

3) Once you receive a request for passport, how long that request is valid for? Or how long you can wait until you send the passports?

4) Once passports have a PR stamped, whats the max timeline to enter canada? 2 years?

5) Once you enter Canada how long till you need to wait to receive a medical/Health card for doctor appointments etc? is there a way to get it early in case you are delivering a baby?

Please help.

1. Medical is valid for one year from the date the Doctor signs it.

2. You do not want to delay your Medical, when you have received MR wherein CIC has given 60 days time, unless you had taken prior permission from them to postpone your Medical. I don't think the Doctor will do X ray on pregnant women. You may like to give a call to CIC approved Doctors to find out more. I remember to have read somewhere on this subject. Also another forum member had in fact posted on this point for your query early. Perhaps you have missed reading that important note while going through the "Congratulatory" flood.

3. Again nobody on earth, who has got VISA approval from CIC will like to delay sending the passport for stamping. I do not know if any time limit is there for passport submission.

4. Entry visa will be valid for one year from the date of your medical exam or the validity of passport whichever occurs first. No grace period ... not even one day. If you do not land before the valid visa date, you lose PR visa and you start all over again.(I do not know where you got the "2 years" term)

5. Once you land in Canada, I believe one has to buy a private medical insurance for three months, before becoming eligible for Govt aided programs.

(You may like to go through various forums on these subjects and gather more knowledge and satisfy yourself rather than relying on individuals posting)
