Union asked to government to respond by 12 today which they did. Lets hope now that union accepts certain condition imposed by government and ends strike soon. May be couple of day or next week but at least we have some headway into the situation. Some newspaper were predicting that PAFSO strike will go on till second week of sep.

Just checked that union will respond to this offer later today so we will have to wait :(

Well done moderators and thanks to everyone for their input. My re-packaged application should leave for CIC this week.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to ask - if, for example I am applying under 1 of the eligible occupations but has only worked 1 year but have 8 years work experience under a different work class under NOC 2011 and not one of the eligible occupations. Will my 8 years of work be considered such that I will be credited for 9 years worth of work experience?

Thanks!

Yes.. You awarded total 9 years of exp.... Subject to it should be from NOC 0 A B..

Hi Seniors and all,

i calculated my IELTS points on basis of CLB table:

i got 7.5 in listening so i add 5 points
i got 7.5 in reading so i add 6 points
i got 6.0 in writing so i add 4 points
i got 6.0 in speaking so i add 4 points

so my total points are 6+5+4+4 = 19 point and overall is 7.0 bands.

Please correct me i am wrong on it.

You are right dear Manish, that was why I sighted an example that could also equal 19. Infact points could be calculated as 16,17, 18, 19 up to 24 depending on the scores

I am sorry but I disagree with DD2211. If you are in NOC Category then only one year experience from the eligible occupation will be counted. According to CIC:

We will only process your FSW application if you have:

- at least one year of continuous and paid (full-time or an equal amount in part-time) work experience
> in a single occupation,
> within the last 10 years,
> at skill type 0, or skill levels A or B of the 2011 edition of the Canadian National Occupational Classification (NOC), and you:

1. have this work experience in one of the eligible occupations, OR
2. have a valid offer of arranged employment, OR
3. are an international student who is enrolled in a PhD program in Canada (or who graduated from a Canadian PhD program within the
past 12 months) and meet these criteria.

Hi ESZB.....please double check this info as DD2211 was correct....as long as a job falls under those categories you get points for it....HOWEVER you need at least 1 year to qualify under a NOC from the list of open NOCs for that year's intake.

Yes ESZB.....you must have 1 year experience in a specific Noc category to QUALIFY to apply, However, you also have to get at least 67 points from the selections criteria section, of which a few are awarded for experience ( up t0 15 points)..... in this section any Job under NOC codes under O, A or B will give you points towards that 67.

(Maximum 15 points)

You can get points for the number of years you have spent in full-time paid work (at least 30 hours per week, or an equal amount of part-time).

National Occupational Classification (NOC)

The NOC is a system used to classify jobs in the Canadian economy. It describes duties, skills, talents and work settings for different jobs. CIC uses the 2011 edition of the NOC to assess skilled worker applications.

Finding your NOC category

The easiest way to find your category is to

go to the National Occupational Classification website,
scroll to the bottom of the page,
in the Quick Search box on the left-hand side, put the name of your occupation, and
press “go.”
This will give you some options. Check if any of them seem to be the right occupation. If this does not work:

press the “back” button,
choose the option that sounds most like your field, and
see if any of the occupations on the list match your occupation.
If the description and list of main duties match what you did at your last job(s), you can count this experience for points.
Use this chart to find the number of points based on your number of years of experience.

Experience Maximum 15 points
1 year 9
2-3 years 11
4-5 years 13
6 or more years 15

@ islandbabe
that "few " should be canadian work experience for "adaptability" points under NOC O , A , B , not for "qualifying work experience " where 9 to 15 points are given ,

Zac989

Your 8 years experience which is not in the eligible occupations will not be counted.

Hi Kewl,

The Adaptability points are not the same as the Qualifying work experience points, and the work experience does not have to be in Canada.

Six selection factors – Federal skilled workers
If you are eligible to apply as a federal skilled worker, we will assess you on a point system based on six selection factors.

Selection Factor Maximum points
English and/or French skills 28
Education 25
Experience 15
Age 12
Arranged employment in Canada 10
Adaptability 10
Total 100
Pass mark: 67 out of 100 points
If your score is 67 points or higher, you may qualify to immigrate to Canada as a federal skilled worker.

If your score is lower than the pass mark of 67 points, you will not qualify to immigrate to Canada as a federal skilled worker. It is better not to apply at this time.

*****If this was the case many people would not qualify, or have gotten their Pers. It would be quite difficult indeed.
